"But father I don't want to."
"(Y/N), it's for our kingdom. Marrying into that family would be a great advantage for us." The king stands up from his throne, ordering the servants to take away his unfinished dinner.
"I don't care about the money father, this is my life !" (Y/N) hurries behind him as he is walking away to wash his hands in a golden bowl the servants got ready for him. Triggered by what his daughter said, he quickly turns around, making his red royal coat swing back, because of the sudden movement.
"Act like a princess and listen to your father. You will marry that boy. End of the discussion." He looks at her one last time and walks off into an endless hall of the castle.
(Y/N) doesn't know how to feel, since her father does have a point. Marrying into the Kingdom of Kahlo would be a big advantage to their kingdom. Everything went upside down when (Y/N)'s mother, the queen of Pendilor passed away. The king was devastated. He no longer wanted to take care of the Kingdom, what made all go for the worse.
(Y/N) feels empty and scared. Scared, because her mind takes over. What if that guy is a total jerk, abusive, unfunny. She hasn't even met him yet, what if he doesn't look like the hot princes (Y/N) always watches from afar, when she gets invited to a ball. What if his personality is as dry as a sponge. She would live an unhappy live, till she dies. No love story, no happiness, no adventures, no love in general. Pain, pure pain, would be the case.
She bumps into her bed, realising that her thoughts brought her to her bedroom, lays on it and closes her eyes, hoping some higher power will magically erase all of her problems.
Money or happiness ? Money or happiness ? Money or happiness ? Money or happiness ?
"Your father is waiting for you in the common room to tailor your wedding gown, your highness" Gerda, (Y/N)'s maid, informs her, dragging her out of her thoughts.
"Please tell him that I'll come soon." (Y/N) mumbles, trying to appear unbothered.
"But he wants you there now---"
"Gerda shut up, do what I tell you to do. You are my maid after all." She spits out, immediately regretting it and feeling bad after seeing the hurt look on the maid's face.
"I apologize--"
"No, I apologize. I'm coming with you now." She smiles at (Y/N), holding out her hand for her to hold on to.
"I already saw the design, I think you're going to love it." Gerda winks.
- time skip -
Gerda was wrong. (Y/N) hates the design. From the fabric to the ruffles, nothing was not even close to what (Y/N) had always pictured her wedding gown to look like.
"I hate it." The princess comments, receiving glares from the designers.
"Your highness, what could we change to make it better ?"
"Nothing, it's awful, you can't even make it better."
"Enough", the king says, making the both annoyed princess and designer look his way. "She's just saying that to delay the wedding. We'll take this one." (Y/N)'s eyes widened.
"FATHER---"
"Go to your room, NOW." He yells, something he rarely does. (Y/N) flinches and holds back tears. The whole room goes silent. (Y/N) shoots him a hurt and disgusted look on her face, before storming out to her room.
This was (Y/N)'s final string, she made a decision.
Money or happiness ? Money or happiness ? Money or happiness ?Money or happiness ?
Happiness. Definitely happiness, she thought.
