(Louis' POV.)

We have been walking straight through bushes for hours now, causing my legs to hurt. Nevaeh is still taking the lead, not even showing any signs of being exhausted. I squeeze (Y/N)'s hand, knowing that she's probably in more pain than I am. The tired look on her face makes me want to offer to carry her all the way to the tower.

"Girls, what if we take a short break ?" I suggest.

Nevaeh turns around. "If we keep on taking breaks we'll reach the tower next week."

I shoot her a disbelieving look. "Come on, a 10-minute-break won't hurt."

"I don't know about you, but Eugene and I won't make it there alive if we don't take a break now." (Y/N) giggles.

I sarcastically gasp. "(Y/N) I have been dragging your whole body weight through this forest with my left arm for the entire time. I will definitely make it there alive, but I'm seriously concerned about you."

(Y/N) laughs and slightly punches my left arm, making me rub it gently with a beam on my face.

"Fine, but only 5 minutes." The black haired girl scoffs.

(Y/N) hands me her bag and looks around. "I'll be right back." She smiles at us and walks a few metres down, then goes behind a big bush.

"Didn't she just pee 5 minutes ago ?" Nevaeh rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.

I leave out a laugh and wiggle my eyebrows. "Small bladder, big heart."

Silence fills the atmosphere. I look at Nevaeh to start a conversation, but she's already moving closer to me.

"Eugene ? I have to ask you something now that (Y/N) is gone." She whispers and keeps on moving closer to me.

"Yes ?" I ask nervously, because of the small gap left between us.

She slowly puts her finger on my lip, making me freeze. I feel her breath on my now red cheeks.

"What are we ?" She whispers, her eyes wandering back and forth from my eyes to my lips.

I am holding in my breath, confused in what is suddenly happening right now. Confused if I find this uncomfortable or -- attractive ?

"I don't know." I stutter. I don't even know why I said this, because the answer is clear. We are just friends. Just friends. Nothing more...

"Do you want me to make it clear ?" She moves her face closer and brushes her lips gently on mine.

I can't move at all. I feel like I'm frozen to the ground and my heart is screaming at me to move away.

She places her hand on my cheek and kisses me.

This feels so wrong. This is so wrong. I can't do this.

Before I get to push her away I hear footsteps behind us.

"Lou- Eugene are you serious ?" (Y/N) yells with tears in her eyes. I quickly push Nevaeh away.

"(Y/N) it's not what it looks like, I promise." I spit out.

"Oh really. Don't act like I didn't just see you swap spits with that bitch." (Y/N)'s tone keeps getting louder.

"(Y/N) why are you acting like this, it's not like you are in a relationship with him." Nevaeh smirks and picks on her fingernails.

(Y/N) takes a deep breath.

"Actually Nevaeh, you're right." She walks up to me, rips her bag out of my hand and takes out the second map. "I don't have time for relationships after all."

I watch her walking off to continue our way to the tower.

And I just stand there. Like a speechless idiot, who just lost the only joy he had left in life.
