After everyone had been sorted into their houses, the prefects ushered us into the Gryffindor common room, telling us where our dormitory was and leaving us at that. It was so late that I did not bother talking to anyone and just headed to my dorm. When I got in though Hermione was already there, unpacking her things. I gave her a quick wave and grabbed my trunk from where it was splayed on the floor and started to unpack. In the next 10 minutes, another two girls came in, Alex and Harmony. They both seemed fairly nice and chose their bunks. I was in the same bunk as Hermione but I was on the top, while Harmony had taken the bottom bed and Alex had taken the top bed of the bunk that was placed right next to ours. We all talked for a while until we all drifted off to sleep, which took longer than it usually did because I was now sleeping in the same room as 3 other girls.
I was awoken abruptly by the sound of Hermione rushing to pack her bag. I sat up to see that Alex and Harmony were still sleeping, unaware of the rushing Hermione.
"Hey, would you mind letting me sleep?" I asked, in a questionably rude manner. She gawked at me as I realized what I said.
"I am so sorry, I guess I'm not used to waking up so early," I said to her apologetically. She turned back to packing her bags.
"To answer the question, I am packing for today's lessons. I need to make sure I get all my O.W.L.S." she answered. Now I was the one to gawk at her.
"We don't get our O.W.L.S until our 5th year though!," I exclaimed. Alex mumbled and rolled over, aware of our loud presence.
"Just getting started," she said, with a wink. I started getting up when I looked at the clock. My eyes could not register it.
"6 am, Hermione!!!," I shouted at her.
Alex rolled once again to glare at me. I gave her a small apologetic glance and turned back to Hermione.
She was holding in a massive laugh and when she couldn't hold it anymore (which wasn't that long), she burst into laughter, getting yet another death stare from the now annoyed Alex. Harmony was still unaware that we were all awake laughing and in Hermione's case crying due to the fact that I had screamed at her for waking up at 6 am.
I rolled over with my belly aching, and nestled my head into my pillow, thinking about how my parents would be angry at me for getting into Gryffindor. I mean, after all, my father said to not communicate with Gryffindor whatsoever. My mind slowly drifted off, to a world where everything was perfect but I knew that that would never be the case.
The sounds of Hermione's giggles retreated as she got herself back in bed.
My mind had already dazed off but I could not seem to get my body to sleep. I stayed in bed for a while, thinking about everything that had happened in the past 24 hours. Once the clock finally reached 7:20, I got myself out of bed and started to get ready. I popped on my uniform, fumbled with it a bit, and then went to wake up Hermione. She woke up immediately as I gently patted her on the shoulder, her brown hair messy. As Hermione got out of bed I went to go wake up Alex and Harmony. They both unwillingly got out of bed and went to get dressed. When I looked back Hermione was already ready, so I got my bag and left the dorm to go to breakfast with her.
As we walked to the Great Hall, my mind was still racing on what my brother would do, or if he would even acknowledge me. Many people were already at their tables, eating away at the large feast before them. Hermione and I silently headed to the Gryffindor table to find Harry, Ron, The Weasley Twins (Fred and George), and several others that had been sorted the night before.
Harry immediately started talking about how he was surrounded by a bunch of girls this morning, trying to get a glimpse of The Boy-Who-Lived. Ron and his brothers were chortling in the corner as a smirk came from Hermione's face. Harry rolled his eyes as he started to laugh with us. I just had to smirk as I watched who would be my closest friends, laughing at the fact that Harry was already considered a celebrity.
