I don't know what led me here. I kind of just let myself walk. I had somehow made it into the restricted section of the library, dark books marked with snakes and potions tilting magically on their sides. I reached to grab a book from the shelf, and after much tugging, it fell into my hands. I read the cover of the books, which was Potion Making At Its Finest. I hoped to God that Madame Pince wouldn't find me in here, my arms clutching the book. I must have been in a trance because when someone called my name, a realisation hit me and I muttered to myself,
"OMG, what am I even doing here. I have to get out!"
Someone tapped me on the shoulder and I almost screamed, but they covered my mouth with their hand.
"George?" I questioned. It was so dark that I could hardly make out his face.
"Yes, it's me. But we need to get out of the restricted section. I know me and you can be rebels of such but this isn't the way to do. I think Madame Pince saw me go in here!" He whisper-shouted. I winced at his words, realising how true they were. Before we could make it to get out of the restricted section, I heard the jangling of keys and a lamp being turned on.
"I know you're in there, Mr Weasley. I saw you," says Madame Pince, as her leather shoes lacked along the floor. We both stepped back, George hitting a stack of books. They all fell and they made a huge amount of noise, causing Madame Pince to run towards the sound. George and I ran towards the exit. Before we stepped out though, George grabbed me by the arm.
"What are you doing?! We have to go." I said, motioning towards the door. He shook his head.
"She already knows that I'm in here. Might as well get in trouble. It's not the first time and it won't be the last," he shrugged.
I stared at him, shocked. Before I could say anything else, he pushed me out of the restricted section and closed the door. I tried to move, but my feet were stuck. He did that for me. Why? That was the question I was asking myself. My thoughts were interrupted, by the sound of a large book being slapped against one of the tables, causing people to look. I'm curious when I see that it is Harry, Ron and Hermione. I stand behind a bookshelf, looking like I'm interested in a book but instead I'm listening in on their conversation.
"I don't know how I missed this. I took this book out for a bit of light readin-"
"Light reading?!" I hear Ron say. Hermione scoffs.
"As I was going to say, Ronald, I told you I recognised the name from somewhere. It's in here," she finished. They don't seem to read the article out loud, so I have to peek around the corner, risking myself getting caught. I don't manage to catch any of the words, but I do see a picture of someone I do know, Nicholas Flamel. I bring myself together and walk past them casually, hearing more snippets of their conversation.
"See?" said Hermione. "This must be what the dog is guarding! The Sorcerer's Stone! I bet Nicholas asked Dumbledore to keep it safe for him because they're friends! It must have been someone connected to You Know Who!"she finished.
"I bet you anything Malfoy and his father had something to do with it. They all seem so suspicious all the time!" Harry said. I stopped in my tracks, turning my head towards them before running off, ignoring the shouts of Harry that he wasn't talking about me, accompanied by the shouts of Madame Pince saying 'NO RUNNING!' and 'NO SHOUTING' but I wasn't listening. I guess they didn't trust me. I really thought they were the only people who wouldn't look at my brother or my dad before judging me. I guess I was wrong. I was probably wrong about thinking that what George did meant anything either too.
A/N - Hey guys! I'm really sorry I haven't updated in so long but I have been super busy with school. Anyway, I know this chapter is short, but I thought I would add in a long-awaited George and Ally scene. I hope you liked it!
This chapter correlates with Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 13, 'Nicholas Flamel'.
