Chapter 34

JACK

Elsa has been ignoring me the whole day. Today, they will proceed to take the winter exam. I worried about her. Private Fitzerbert have his eyes on Elsa, he's like a sister to him. Tadashi has been glaring at me whenever I'm not looking.

What's wrong?

Did I do something bad?

I'm walking behind the squad with my arms behind my back. I didn't even look at the other members of the squad. Only I have my eyes for her, Elsa... Ever since last night she had nightmare... She's ignoring me. Anxiety hit my veins, her eyes look darker than before. What is wrong with me?

I start to feel nervous. Why am I feeling nervous?

Is she breaking up with me?

I'm trying to find a space where I could talk to her but there aren't any. She's always occupied. Reading book under the tree when we rest, talking to Adrien and Eugene. Or even worst, laughing with Tadashi.

Whenever I approach her, Elsa leaves. This is unprofessional, I know. Here I am, leaning against the tree and watch her read a book. "Captain, Queen Elsa will melt if you kept on staring at her like that", Colonel Rick said nudging my shoulder. I scoffed, rolling my eyes at him.

"Leave me alone oldie", I said getting away from the tree and heading to Fitzerbert to ask something.

"I can clearly feel that there is something going on between you and our Elsa", Colonel Rick said. I suddenly stopped walking. Why do he have to meddle with this? Slowly, I turned around. I can't say any words. All I do is to glare at him. Colonel Rick remained crossing his arms. "Hmm, I'm not the person who like helping other people but...maybe I'll make an exception for you", he smiled a little.

I know what will happen if ever the upper hands of military find out about me and Elsa. Everything will be taken away from me. It doesn't matter, as long as I have Elsa. I don't care if I go to jail.

Colonel Rick start to walk towards me, his eyes are focused on my cyan blue. I look behind him, seeing Elsa reading her book. She didn't even took a glance to me. I felt my heart got pinched. "Exception?", I tried my best no to stutter when I met Colonel Rick's eyes.

"Yes. If Elsa is truly happy with you then I'll let you be with her", Colonel Rick stopped walking. He put his arms behind his back, standing in front of me. I salute, showing respect even if I'm vexed of how he is acting. He's offering me some help but I don't like other guys treating me like I'm a weak link and I can't handle a relationship. There's always a way when you love someone. The pathway that no matter how hard it is to go through, you will do everything because you love that person. Cat got my tongue, I couldn't speak back.

"You have 10 seconds to answer", Colonel Rick said.

"Yes Sir!", I said while saluting.

"Good. You can guarantee that I'll keep the secret tucked in. Just don't do anything bad, you got my good side but if you hurt Elsa, you know where you'll go", Colonel Rick smiling at me. He winked before tapping my shoulder. He left, I exhaled.

This is the first time that I got nervous in my life.

No one ever made me feel nervous before.

I saw Elsa, she's finally staring back at me. I opened my mouth like a fish, I want to say something but I can't. Not when everyone is here. I tilt my head to the side, gathering the courage to talk to her. When I was about to walk towards her, Tadashi approached Elsa. She did not look at me, she come with Tadashi without looking back her shoulder.

My heart crushed into pieces.

What am I going to do?

Everyone is struggling when they start to enter the coldest part of the mountain, some are sniffing, shivering, chilling in cold and some are complaining that their legs are hurting.

However, Elsa walk confidently. The only problem she's having is stumbling at the rocks. Tadashi always catch her, I'm insecure. I should have been the man who's catching her.

This whole military thing is keeping us apart. A few more months and they will officially be called soldiers. I noticed that Elsa looked pale, it is when I noticed that she didn't eat anything. Her eyes were drowsy and she's barely walking straight.

The only thing I could do is to walk behind her. I'm not looking to where I was going. This eyes of mine are focused on her legs, waiting just in case.

I'm not mistaken, she collapsed. I quickly catch her. Everyone stopped, asking if Elsa was okay. "Elsa! Wake up!", I yelled.

"Faster! We're near! Cadet Arendelle need help!", Colonel Rick ordered the squad. All of them start to run up, ready to find a spot and set the tent for her. Colonel Rick ran to us, pouring warm water in Elsa's mouth. I lift Elsa's head a little so that the liquid will travel down her throat. Elsa look paler, I'm checking her vitals. Fatigue. She didn't took anything, why?

Colonel Rick and I look at each other, I'm guessing both of us have the same thought. "Sir! We set up the tent for Private Elsa Sir!", Fitzerbert yelled. I saw Tadashi moving fast and preparing everything Elsa needs. What's up with Private Hamada? Why is he acting like this?

"Okay, let's move Private Arendelle", Colonel Rick accompanied me. Everyone helped us clear the path so it's much easier for me to run to the tent. Once I reached the tent, Adrien prepared heating pads for Elsa. I'm not listening to anyone anymore, all I care is nursing Elsa myself. Colonel Rick lured the boys out to give me and Elsa a privacy. I'm going to stay here, inside the tent until she wake up.
