BRRRIIIINNNG!

The bell rang. I stood up and hiked my backpack onto my shoulders.

"Hey, Aria!"

I turned around, coming face to face with Johnson.

"Yes?" I raised an eyebrow.

These guys just never stopped trying.

"You wanna hang out with us after school? Sam's too afraid to ask you." Johnson asked, laughing at the last part.

I leaned over and smirked at Sam. He sheepish smiled, a blush creeping up his neck.

"Sure." I replied, my eyes still on Sam.

I followed the guys out to the parking lot. I hopped in my car and put the keys in my ignition. Sam appeared at my window.

"Can I ride with you? The guys' car is kinda crowded."

I turned the keys in the ignition, the car sputtering to life.

"Okay." Sam began to walk away.

"Hey!"

He turned around, and I opened the passenger side door.

"Get in, you dork." I said, grinning. Sam smiled, and sat in the car.

"You know, you give some mixed signals." He said, looking at me.

"It's my specialty." I replied confidently. I cranked up the radio and flipped through the stations.

"Hope you don't mind loud music." I said, raising my voice a bit. I found a hip-hop station and left it. I softly sang/rapped the words to the Nicki Minaj song playing.

"Dang girl. You can sing and rap? Is there anything you can't do?" Sam asked over-dramatically.

"Guess we'll find out, huh?" I replied, focusing on the road.

*later*

"Nate! Over here!"

The boys had convinced me to play football with them in Gilinsky's backyard. I wasn't that good at it, but whatever. Nate threw it to me, but it slipped from my grip.

"So close! Come on, Aria!" Gilinsky said, flashing a grin.

After awhile, we went inside, and sat around Jack G's living room.

"So, Ari, can I call you that?" Sam asked

"No. Continue." I said, taking a sip of my soda.

"I mean, I know your name and you like music, sooo...?"

"And you need to know more because... Why?"
