Up on the dance

Soyeon is in her bedroom, surrounded by empty bowls (there was probably fruit there), crumpled papers with random verses, and pieces of dirty and scattered clothing. The computer is open in front of her and there are some of the equipment that she found herself in need of buying: an electric piano, a good microphone, a headset and lots of applications on the computer, all because she set herself a deadline to finish the songs of her album and intends to return to Seoul with it all done, with only one detail or another missing.

She has been keeping herself there for three days now, without letting anyone approach, and not without touching her cell phone except to check her e-mails. And she's very used to this routine, but her bad habits are scaring her father a little; also, it annoys Yuqi that Soyeon doesn't answer her for hours and hours straight, only doing it before going to sleep, when she no longer has the energy to even start a call.

Yeah, no one is happy about her self induced abstence.

Finishing a melody, Soyeon moves on to another one, and her cell phone rings when she's passing the piano arrangement of the bridge to the official recording on the computer. It's Minnie's name that appears on the screen, but she still sees the thousands of other missed calls, and that's why she answers it.

Why do you always take so long to pick up the damn phone?! That thing is always right beside you! — It's the first thing Soyeon hears when she puts the device to her ear.

Well, unlike you, I have work to do.

Argh! Your family is trying to get your attention, Soyeon!

I know! That's exactly why you're here, remember? To distract them! Now, tell me. What is it?

Your father just called me because you wouldn't answer his calls. He needs you to go to some warehouse to get something for him. He texted you. —

Soyeon knows exactly what warehouse she's talking about. It is not far from her home, but it is a little away from Byeonghwa's workshop. She used to go there with Soojin when they were younger to play hide and seek or to pretend they had a secret club; it used to be fun. And if her father, who hates asking for favors, is asking her for it, it is because he must be very wrapped up in a car or a customer in the garage.

For that reason, she sighs and saves what she already has on the computer, taking a quick look around the room before making a face.

Ok, thanks. I'm going.

The call gets silent for a second, but Minnie screams again.

Don't make me act like your mom again, it makes me feel old!

That's gross, at the very least, — Soyeon takes the headphones off her neck and stands up. — I'm hanging up now. Bye.

Bye, love you!

That horrible mess wouldn't happen if she had a studio instead of just a room, or if she had more time to work on her album, but she has neither, so she decides to ignore it until her father gets tired of looking at that declared war zone and truly compel her to do something — she will probably just pay someone to do the job, though.

Soyeon changes her shirt because she's been wearing it since yesterday and squeezes her cell phone in her hand to jump across the clean spaces on the floor where she can see the icy stone floor, and only leaves the house after picking up a packet of cookies in the kitchen, eating them while driving (which, she discovers, is not such an easy task).
