Bali
“Seriously Kat, I can’t believe you planned this knowing Zayn was coming.” Louis gave her another pissed off look as he tossed her duffel into her jeep.
Kat had had enough of Louis and his judgement. “You all told me I needed to get away, to plan a holiday and I did. So leave it alone.”
“But you did it knowing he was coming to visit. To see you, Kat.” He protested again.
“I said leave it alone Louis. I’m so sick of hearing about it.” Kat stalked towards the driver’s door. “And so help me, if I happen to ‘bump into him’ at Perth airport you can start looking for somewhere else to live.”
Louis was about to scoff at her, but something in the way she looked at him told him she was serious. “You’d kick me out of my home for only wanting to see you happy?” He asked incredulously.
“Not if you don’t give me a reason to Lou.” Kat snapped at him. “I’m done with him and I can just as easily be done with you.” With those words she slammed the door and started driving away.
She driven about fifty metres before she stepped on brakes.
“Damn you Tommo.” She murmured to herself and threw the gears into reverse. Stopping back where he had been standing she got out and hugged him. “I need to get my head right Louis. If he turns up there’s no chance of that.”
“I know. I just think you should have told him before he left, he’ll have wasted his time.”
Kat chided back at Louis, “Well then I guess he’ll realise just how I felt after he strung me along in a relationship going nowhere.”
“You are the stubbornest woman I have ever met.” He gave her an extra hard squeeze. “Be safe kiddo. Text me when you arrive in Port.”
“Will do.” Kat looked over to her dogs, they’d stay tethered by the veranda until she was well enough away, that they would chase her. “Look after my girls for me.”
“You know I will.” And with that Kat climbed back into her jeep and started the long drive to Port Hedland.
Once there she would garage her jeep and catch a two and a half hour flight to Perth. From Perth it was a another three hours to Bali. All up she would be travelling for most of the day. The hardest part of living in the middle of nowhere, to get anywhere you had to travel for long periods. One of the reasons they rarely ventured any further than Port Hedland.
Kat felt totally out of her element the moment she landed in Perth. She had flown into the city a couple of times previously with Tommy and Zayn, but given they were in the helicopter, they had used a completely different part of the airport. This time around, she was not only flying commercially, but also had to go through immigration and customs, as she was leaving the country.
After checking her bag, she started to make her way through immigration. The line was long and crawled along. She nervously tapped her foot as she waited. Her thoughts were on her dad and Louis and how this trip had initially been discussed with both of them being in attendance.
