Soulmate.
Soulmate is a person ideally suited to another as close friend or romantic partner. Many says they are meant to be, and supposed to be each other's half.
People have their fated soulmate, however, they do not want to obey the law of nature and marry the person they thought they love. It ruins the whole thing, and destroy their life.
It's simply because they are not meant to be with each other.
They loved, and married, and divorced. At last, it's not the happy ending they dreamt for.
This happens for years, and humanity decided to fix it. For peace. For their own good.
Schools started to make soulmate work in pairs, and support the idea of soulmate being with each other. If they are soulmate, that is.
People are not forced to be with their soulmate, but it's supported to be in the path.
They knew that it will not end well.
So they obey the new rules.
Except ones who fight for their "love" for person other than their soulmate, of course.
People find their mate by kissing. After a kiss with the right person, a mark will start forming on the both of their neck. It will looks identical, and people are not allowed to interfere between soulmates that are claimed. It is against the law.
People claim their mate by exchanging the three words of love. After claiming their soulmate as theirs, the mark will change into the colour of their soulmate's iris.
If ones soulmate died, the mark they share will disappear, giving them new chance of getting another soulmate.
Some people still thinks that the whole soulmate things are despicable, so the method of rejecting their soulmate are kept secret.
Rejecting soulmate can cause disease to both of the partner, and it can cause death.
Usually, people that do not love their soulmate would not reject them. They would just be with another person without doing so.
It's for their own good, after all.
