I had fallen in love with my best friend, I knew for a fact that he didn't love me; because he's in love with his girlfriend. I am not going to deny the fact, that I hate her or that I am happy just staying as his best friend and only that. However, he's happy. So I'm not going to ruin his happiness or my semi - happiness by confessing to him.
Nightwing was sending Miss Martian, Lagoon Boy, & I on a stealth mission. We were to get into an underwater base that was associated with Cadmus. It was supposedly abandoned, it hadn't been operational for a while as far as Batman could tell. Miss Martian will get the both of us inside, and they will watch my back as I get any information I can from the main computer then we get out. It was a simple enough mission.
We got to the main room with ease, none of the traps I was suspecting went off. Which was a bit suspious, and I kept my guard up. Until I got to the computer, I kept focus and trusted the other two to keep an eye out. Though, after I got all the information I could from the computer and I turned around. They were making out, a pain struck my chest and I squeezed my eyes shut, I gained my composure by going into 'knight mode'. I slipped the memory card into the waterproof locket Lagoon Boy gave me. I cleared my throat,
"Sorry Black Knight," Lagoon Boy gave me a sheepish smile,
"I'm done. Ready to go?" I asked, raising an eyebrow behind my helmet
The door closed before we could exit, we all tried to pry it open but it wouldn't budge. The power went on, and a screen powered up. Black Manta.
"You don't think we would leave a building we used to use abandoned, and still functional?" he chuckled
"This was a trap..." I said, clenching my hand into a fist, I should have known.
I went to the computer and started hacking in, I was able to pull up the security cameras; we were surrounded. How the hell did they not sense anyone?! I clenched my jaw tight, right. They were sucking each others face off. We're out numbered, and out powered.
"I'm surprised you can sneak around and be quiet with all that armor on." Black Manta said,
I ignored him and kept typing, hacking into the Watch Tower. I needed to get help here as quick as possible. Come on....come on. He's trying to distract you, ignore him and everyone else. Trust Lagoon Boy.
{Who The - Black Knight? What's wrong?} Flash asked, showing up on one of the screens
Miss Martian explained the problem, since she was team leader. I scowled, and turned my attention to Black Manta.
"Listen Real careful Black Manta. No matter what you say, I won't get annoyed or angry. And I'll let you in on a little secret of mine. I Am A Knight. THE Black Knight. It is my duty to rescue those who need to be rescued. I protect those who need protecting. Especially the people I care about. Stop being a Chicken and come take me on your self." I challenged him, hitting a button so everything but a single screen shut down.
{Stay put, and keep yourselves and each other alive until back - up arrives.} Superman ordered, ignoring what I had just done
"We can't do that." I moved so he & everyone else would see me,
I lifted my helmet enough so I could pull out my locket, I passed it to Miss Martian after I put my helmet back into place.
"Give it to Batman. - If we stay here, they could decide to blow the place up. But they won't sine I just challenged Black Manta, he will come in here him self and it would be better if we fought out in the open. Lagoon Boy and Miss Martian will be escaping while I give them cover, so please. Come as fast as you can, I'm not entirely sure how long I can hold out against an Army." I told them, keeping my eyes on the screen,
{They are Warriors, who will not hesitate to kill you.} Wonder Woman said,
"I know. I won't die here. Even if I do, it would be a great honor for me."
"We can get out of this together. I can move -" Miss Martian started, glancing at Lagoon Boy
{No. We can't risk losing all three of you, if Black Knight can keep all of them busy and the two of you have a chance to leave without her, take it. We need that information.} Batman cut her off, glaring at the two
"Yes, Sir." Lagoon Boy said, standing up straight, a resolved look on his face
I shut the screen down, along with the entire base. A red light went on, and numbers began counting down on the screen.
"Let's go. I set the building to self destruct. When it blows, it'll give you a chance to escape." I told the two, as I drew my sword,
I broke the door, and ran with the two behind me. 'Miss Martian. You can relay memories and thoughts later, right?' Yes...I can do that, but please...live. 'Thank You. Take Good Care of Him. You break his heart, I will not hesitate to kill you where you stand.' I gave them a nod, when we got to the exit. As I expected, Black Manta was waiting. Along with an army,
"Wouldn't she be sinking with that Armour on?" someone asked,
"Get Going!" I shouted at the two, as I swung my sword, knocking all of them backwards,
I swam straight at Black Manta, swinging my sword as the two started heading for the Bio Ship. I would slash at any group that got close, but, doing that left me open and Black Manta sliced through my armor, blood coming out. I kicked him away from me. I have to hold on. At least until they can escape. I used Black Manta as a spring board, pushing myself towards the Bio Ship, I stopped and turned. Raising my sword, I used as much energy as I could to slash away the enemy as the Bio Ship took off.
"They left you behind," Black Manta chuckled, holding his sword out at me
"It was planned." I growled, raising my sword
Our swords clashed, as I kept the others from hitting me. I got cut, stabbed and shot multiple times before the back up arrived.
"Hold on Black Knight!!" Aquaman shouted
I was engulfed in a green light, Black Manta's sword bouncing right off. I closed my eyes and let out a breathe of relief. I hope they capture Black Manta...
