A N T O N I O

Soft hands covered his eyes and completely engulfed his world in darkness, careful to always be gentle against his skin. Almost immediately he knew who it was, from the way the smell of sweet caramel swirled around the air, submerging him in an entirely different world where she was the only thing his senses received.

"Guess who?" Her sweet voice giggled close to his ear, the sound causing an effect so strong, he had to take in a sharp breath to avoid fainting right there on the spot.

"Beyonce?"

Mary-Kate clicked her tongue with a laugh before she removed her hands from above Antonio's eyes. His vision was once again granted with light, making him slightly squint as the few sun rays that sported the cloudy sky glistened all around him.

"I wish. Happy Birthday!" Mary-Kate threw her hands in the air with excitement before she engulfed Antonio in a tight hug he returned with eagerment, laughing softly against her shoulder.

"Happy Birthday to you too." Antonio pulled away with a huge grin as one arm remained around her waist subconsciously, feeling her palms burn holes right through his clothing and into his shoulders. He chuckled before his laugh quickly died down, what he was seeing in front of him making him forget any other thought that dared to intervene.

Mary-Kate looked absolutely breathtaking. Her hair that was usually either wrapped up in buns and ponytails or left completely loose on her shoulders were now styled in a half-up half-down hairstyle, short pieces tickling her jaw. To his mistake, Antonio followed that hair that moved with the light breeze, his eyes falling too close to her mouth than he wanted to. But now they were the only thing he could look at, and how they shined with a thin layer of sheer gloss. Her pearly whites were on display as she smiled brightly up at him, her green eyes staring at him for what felt as an eternity.

Her black turtleneck came in contrast with the golden necklaces she wore, each one of them aligned perfectly to not fall on top of the other, having their own time to shine in the eye of the admirer. Her black puffer jacket was noisy against the hand Antonio had wrapped around her waist, his mind realizing he was applying slight pressure to keep her body close, torturing his own self.

The second his mind fell to that conclusion his eyes stopped travelling lower on her body, realizing how he would only set himself on fire if he allowed his eyes to see her in such close distance. So he gulped and forced his gaze to go back to hers, noticing how she had stopped smiling.

Instead, she had this stargazed look in her eyes, her long eyelashes going up and down with every blink she managed to do. Her lips were slightly apart and her breath had gotten a little heavier. Only a tiny bit, something he wouldn't notice if he wasn't so close.

As if struck by lightning they both pulled apart, laughing nervously as they tried to find anything around them that would save them from what had just happened. Something as innocent as a hug had managed to become something blazing and unpredictable that had the danger of becoming more, and it was something their brains were unable to handle at the moment.

"I really love birthdays." Mary-Kate shattered the silence with a grin and a laugh to save them from the awkward silence, throwing them into conversation. "Oh wait! I got you something!"

Mary-Kate breathed out in relief as she dug in the mess that her bag had somehow turned into, rocking on her feet as an attempt to contain her excitement.
