Jade’s POV.

I could see that the next day at school wasn’t the easiest for Martina or Georgina. Niall still seemed troubled after having apologized about a hundred times. Martina said she’d like to still be friends, Georgina didn’t say anything at all. I comforted him, but he preferred to be alone. I wondered if he felt anything for Georgina and hoped that he would cheer up a bit by his birthday.

It was another hot afternoon on Friday and everyone sat fanning themselves with their Biology books, waiting for the end of school bell. Zayn was next to me and we were quietly discussing our plans for tomorrow. Dani would be getting Niall’s cake, Louis took the job of taking him out for the day, I was in charge of decorations and Zayn would get some people to help set everything up. I was pretty excited and hoping it would all go to plan. I was so absorbed in the conversation that I didn’t notice Mrs Harris staring at me.

‘Miss Nickels.’ she said, sternly. ‘Would you like to tell me what the study of the circulatory system comes under in Biology?’

‘Err,’ I stammered, trying to find the answer in the textbook. Zayn coughed and casually put his finger on a word he’d written down. ‘Physiology?’

‘Indeed.’ Mrs Harris was clearly surprised with my answer. ‘Now pay attention.’

I looked at Zayn gratefully and he grinned back. Thankfully, he was really good at Science and always helped me. To my relief, the bell finally rung and everyone rushed out of the stuffy classroom. I grabbed Becka’s hand on the way out and we pushed through the crowd, into the school grounds. We waited in the shade for the rest of the girls and boys. I spotted Niall and Liam making their way towards us.

‘Don’t forget to leave the key under the mat tomorrow, yeah?’ I said to Niall as he came over to give me a hug.

‘I will, just don’t put too much stuff up, okay?’ he replied. ‘I’m trusting you Jade!’

‘I promise it will be good! See you tomorrow night.’ I reminded Liam to meet me at one o’clock and they walked off to the bus stop. The rest of the boys were just coming out of the building as Georgina’s group approached us. Martina seemed to have become friends with them again this week, after they had talked everything over. I took the opportunity to remind Francesca that she was supposed to sort out the tracks and microphones for the boys’ performance.

‘The speakers will be there already, yeah?’ she asked.

‘Yep, you just need to switch the cables before they sing and make sure you don’t mess up the sound system because it’s easy to get it wet with the pool being there.’ I explained.

‘Wait.. Start again?’ Francesca looked confused.

‘I’ll help you get it working.’ Harry smiled at her, but she looked down, embarassed. ’By the way Jade, my sister should be bringing the drinks.’

‘Great.’ I said, grinning. Tasha was definitely the coolest sister anyone could wish for. ’I’ll see everyone except Louis at one then.’

Louis made a face, but I knew he was secretly glad to not be involved with the decorating. As everyone went their separate ways, Becka, Dani and I walked down the road; we lived too near to the school to bother getting a bus. I noticed that Louis put his arm around Codie as they strolled down the driveway. It seemed that Zayn walked Alisha home almost every day too.

‘I actually can’t wait!’ Dani exclaimed. ‘Amy and Kira are going to be there, right?’

‘I don’t think there’s anyone who’s not coming.’ I said seriously.

‘I’ve got the entertainment for the night sorted.’ Becka winked, swinging her bag.

‘If you’re in charge, then I trust that it’s going to be wild.’ I laughed.

‘You bet it will be.’ she replied with a smug smile.
