Chapter 16- Auntie Melissa

Scarlett was watching spongebob in the living room but couldn't enjoy it cause she was too tired.

The little girl got off the couch and walked over to where her father was sitting and got into his lap putting her head on his chest and immediately Damon became worried. "I'll call you back Ric" Damon said ending the phone call and looked down at his little girl. "What's the matter baby?" The blue eyed vampire asked in concern while Scarlett looked up at him with tiredness. "I'm tired" the little girl whined rubbing her eyes. "Why are so tired?" Damon asked looking down at his daughter's tired blue eyes. "I stayed up watching doc mcstuffins and spongebob but I didn't mean to stay up that late" Scarlett explained to the blue eyed vampire. "Scar you know your bedtime is at nine, next time record your shows so you can watch them the next day so you can get some sleep." Damon said looking down at his daughter who yawned but before he could say anything the doorbell rung.

The older Salvatore got off the couch carrying his daughter to the door opening it seeing a brunette with brown eyes,dressed in a blue shirt, and blue jeans and black flats. "Can I help you?" Damon asked looking at the women up and down. "My name is Melissa Jimenez, I'm looking for Damon Salvatore." the women said looking at the blue eyed vampire not knowing she was talking to him.  "I'm Damon Salvatore." Damon said getting a weird feeling from this woman so he held tighter to Scarlett's now sleeping form.  "May I please come in I need to talk to you about something important." Melissa said looking at the raven haired Salvatore who moved aside letting the women inside and closed the door behind him.

Laying Scarlett upstairs in her room, the older Salvatore kissed his little girl's head then went back downstairs seeing the woman looking at pictures that Scarlett drew that was left in the coffee table.  "What did you need to talk about?" the blue eyed vampire asked looking at the woman. "Scarlett is in danger and before you say anything my sister was on the run from someone who was very dangerous and he tried to take Scarlett until he collected payment. but my sister ran but later on the guy found Scarlett and Janet and he killed my sister telling my niece to run as far away as she could and find you." Melissa explained while Damon looked at the burnette in shock.

Damon was speechless, he was angry cause he didn't protect his daughter or her mother like he was supposed to.

Melissa saw the older Salvatore's expression seeing how hurt and angry he looked. "It's not your fault Damon." She said placing her hand on top of his giving it a gently squeeze. "Yes it is, I was supposed to protect Janet and I didn't even know I had a daughter, if did I would have demanded both of them stay with me here." The blue eyed Salvatore stood up walking over to his mini bar pouring a drink mixing it with blood. "Janet called me the day before she died and told me she had a feeling that it'll be her last day with Scarlett and I told her it was about time that she looked for you, but my sister being stubborn as always told me that the moment you would have found out about Scarlett you would have killed her for keeping your daughter away from you and that she could fight off the men to save your daughter." Melissa said looking at Raven haired Vampire who looked even more upset at that. "Of course I would have killed her! She kept my daughter away from me and not only that she got herself in a mess putting herself and Scarlett in danger!." Damon yelled angrily pouring himself another drink.

Melissa knew how much her niece meant to the older Salvatore but she couldn't help herself and ask the question that was in her head.  "How'd you feel when you first met Scarlett?" the brunette asked while the raven haired vampire sat on the love couch. "I was horrible to Scarlett. I said things that I shouldn't have said even did things that hurt her." Damon said looking down at his shaking hands.  "What about now? How do you feel about Scarlett?" Melissa asked looking at the icy blue eyed vampire.  "I love my daughter and I regret every horrible thing I ever done,
but I'm here now picking up the pieces that Janet left in raising our child." Damon said looking up at his baby mama's sister watching her nod.
