Daniel's POV
"Earth to Hope! Fuck, what the hell is wrong with you?" I scream at my irritating sister. I've technically only known her for less than an hour, and already she's pissing me off.
"Sorry... I... I am just trying to... Process all this." She stutters. Okay. I really don't understand what the hell there is to process but I stay quiet for a minute before speaking again.
"Are you done processing? I have shit to do and this is wasting precious time." I don't even try to hide my annoyance.
"No actually. I have questions. Lots of questions. And would appreciate it if you stopped talking to me like that!" Wow, she's just as crazy as her psychotic boyfriend.
"Okay well what I have to say is more important so you're just gonna have to suck it up. Now listen, so-"
"Suck it up? Did you really just tell me to suck it up? I have been kicked around- literally- for 19 years and then you tell me that I have someone... A brother I could have to turned to for help and you want me to just accept that and not ask questions? Where have you been my entire life? Did you know my mother? What happened to you? Why weren't you living at home? How old are you?" Hope interrupts me. Damn it she's annoying.
"If I promise to answer all of your fucking questions later, will you please bloody focus?" I ask her. She reluctantly nods her head. Thank god!
"Okay so firstly, this place is our hideout I guess. And we are known as UPU, or Undertakers- Peacekeepers United. We basically oppose what those sick bastards are doing to our coven, obviously for different reasons but yeah... We work together... For now. Now, just to set the record straight I didn't save you cos you're my sister, I don't give a fuck about you... Well actually I wouldn't give a fuck, if you weren't your parents daughter. But the fact that you're full blooded royalty makes you the rightful heir to the throne and you need to be kept safe if our plan is to work. So don't get too attached, I saved you for the cause, not because I wanted to." I see pain flash in her eyes and it doesn't leave. This girl- my little sister- has lost everyone she cares about... Everyone that cares about her. Why am I being like this to her? It wasn't her that made my childhood miserable... That drove me to do unspeakable things... But it was her father. Yeah the one that she hates as much as you do.
I argue with myself like this, with her just staring up at me with the pain still obvious in her eyes. Finally she speaks, breaking me from my trance.
"Is that it? Are you done?" She asks, trying to keep her voice steady but failing miserably.
"For now. But I'll have to run you through what we want from you later." She turns and starts to walk away before I've even finished my sentence. I grab her wrist and turn her around, a little too rough, judging by the look on her face. I let go and run my fingers through my hair, not really knowing why I stopped her but just by looking at the tears that now streak her face, I know I'm doing the right thing. For once.
"Umm... You said you wanted to ask me stuff? So yeah... You could maybe ask... If you want." Shit I sound like a fucking idiot, but her eyes light up instantly and she wipes her tears away so maybe I'm not that big of an idiot.Hope's POV
My heart is racing too fast. Way too fast. I know I wanted answers but now that I'm actually gonna get them I'm terrified.
What if he just left for no reason? What if he really doesn't care about me? What then? I have no one left.
I don't want to think about that. He can't be that heartless, can he? Images of my father flash in my mind reminding me that the people that are supposed to love you the most can sometimes be the ones that care the least and hurt you the most... I shake my head to clear it before speaking.
"No. That's okay. I don't really care to know after you cleared up why exactly I'm here. But thanks." I turn to walk away and this time he doesn't stop me. Looks like he really doesn't care. Nice to know...
