Percy POV:

I was shocked. My best friend and cousin had just kissed me! I sat there for a few seconds. The Fates flashed in. "Ah, we see you've found your second mate." "My second what?!?", I exclaimed. "Your second mate. You see, Eros' and Aphrodite's combined blessings made it so that you'd have three mates. Your loyalty tamped down the blessing so what should have been 13 mates became three."

I looked at Arty. She... I couldn't read her expression. It worried me. I saw Thalia. She had a light blush adorning her cheeks. I suddenly saw how beautiful she was. I sighed and jogged over to Artemis. "Arty...", I started before she flashed out. I felt her emotions. It made me want to break down and cry right there. I looked towards Thalia again. She was sitting down with her head between her knees. I walked over and sat beside her. "I'm sorry. You're with Artemis aren't you?" I exhaled, "Yes", I replied. "Hey, this isn't your fault. It had to happen sometime. Especially with this whole mates thing." It broke my heart to see her crying. I wrapped one arm around her and pulled her close. "Hey. I'll sort this out with Artemis. It just... I'm confused. I don't know what to do. I'll be back faster than you can say 'my life friggin sucks', I consoled her. "Wait!", she said. I turned towards her. She said, "I loved you ever since we finished that quest. The main reason I joined the Hunters of Artemis was that I was hopelessly in love with you and you liked Annabeth. I stepped away. When you joined the Hunters my love only increased. And now...I...I'm sorry."

I squeezed her hand one more time and flashed out. I flashed right next to Artemis. She turned around and saw me. Her eyes flared. Her hand flew towards my face. I caught it. "I'm sorry Arty. I didn't ask for any of this. Please don't leave me. Slap me or do whatever you wanna do to me but don't leave me. Please. I can't bear it. Not after Annabeth.", I said. She pulled back her hand and hugged me. Then she started crying. I carried her over to a nearby tree. I slid down the tree eventually sitting on the ground. Artemis' legs were crossed and she was sitting on my lap. I held her while cried for the second time that day. She said, "I'm sorry, it's just that I finally get you for myself and then I find out I have to share you with two others." My eyes widened. "Is that what this is about? Possessive much Arty?" She spluttered. "What! I... no..." I silenced her with a kiss, grinning the whole time. "We'll spend the night here. Just you and me." She smiled. "I'd love that." We went to sleep, my wings wrapped around her, her hugging me like a lifeline and with both of us looking into each other's eyes, love shining in both of them.
