Chapter 1:

Since arriving to the ground, there has only been war and never any peace. All we ever do is fight or prepare for a fight. We have never had a chance to live. All I want to do is live. Even if it is for a short amount of time, I just want to live.

"Where is Wyetta?" I heard coming down the trail of the woods. Opening my eyes, I accepted that my momentary sense of peace was over. I pulled myself up from my relaxed position against the tree, looking down at the trail to see who was coming.

Looking down, I saw blonde hair peeking through the brush with someone with dark hair next to her. Clarke and Bellamy. "Wyetta!" Clarke called louder. Debating on whether or not I wanted to know why she was looking for me, I took my time to see if they would just leave.

"Wyetta!" Bellamy shouted louder.

Rolling my eyes, I shouted, "Up here!" Giving away my position, I leaned over further so that I could be seen by them. Their heads snapped up, on high alert, hands at their guns, ready to fight.

"Can you come down from there, please?" Clarke asked, letting out a sigh. Choosing to be nice, I did as she asked and threw my legs over the edge of the tree branch, then throwing myself off, landing on my feet right in front of them.

"What do you want?" I asked, dusting the dirt and bark off.

"We are about to start a meeting. We need you there," Bellamy stated, being direct. I looked at the both of them confused. I had never been asked to be a part of any form of meeting before. I tended to avoid anything like that and just wait till after to hear about the major decision that made. It was always easier that way.

"Why do you need me?" I asked, not sure if I really wanted to be part of anything they were.

They both exchanged a look, hesitant to tell me the true reason. After both giving an agreeing nod to one another, Clarke revealed, "You might be able to help. We think that with your knowledge on history, we could use that to our advantage to ensure our peoples safety."

"Also, some people think you might be able to share some sort of perspective, apparently," Bellamy chimed in. Raising an eyebrow at the both of them knowing that they were holding back but, I was surprised that they had actually come to me. Clarke awkwardly looked to Bellamy as if he was her safeguard around me.

Anyone with eyes could always tell that Clarke and I didn't have the best relationship, not with our history. With only finding each other after reaching the ground, any form of communication with us, resulted in long silences and as if we had forgotten how to speak all together. Though, I wasn't the biggest fan of Clarke, I knew that if she was asking me to be at the meeting, it was for something important and if it meant saving lives, well, how can I say no to that?

I hated the ark. Reminded me of my time in space, so my entire life. Though it was crashed into the ground and they changed the name to Arkadia, the interior of this large spacecraft held dark memories. The ground had been my escape and I preferred to stay outside and away from the ark as much as possible.

Tugging on my long sleeve shirt and grasping the ends with my fingers, I crossed my arms across my chest, taking my spot in the corner against the walls near the exit, in case I needed it. Everyone had taken a seat at the large table that was set up. Clarke, Bellamy, Kane, and Indra had already taken their seats at the table. There were a few seats still empty and it was obvious we were waiting for a few more people to arrive.

"Oh, I didn't know you were going to be here," I heard, taking my attention away from the room full of people. Abby Griffin stood at the entrance, looked a little surprised to see me.

"Clarke said I was needed here," I answered right away. She took a quick glance at her daughter and looked back at me. "Don't worry, I'll be out of your sight as soon as I'm no longer needed here," I reassured her.

"Please, Wyetta, if we could-," she started in a hushed tone.

"It's too many years too late for that. I think you should take your seat. People are waiting for this to start." I didn't want to have any form of conversation with her right now or ever. She had made that clear from the very beginning. She was not interested in me or wanting to have anything to do with me. Taking a deep breath in, she turned and walked to her seat in between her daughter and Kane.

"What was that about?" Octavia asked, leaning against the doorway, watching Abby with me.

"She didn't know I was coming," I answered, looking at my close friend.

"Neither did I," she said, grasping onto her sword. She had embraced becoming a grounder and took on their ways, since the death of Lincoln. She was being Indra's little mini me. Her grief had turned her into a new person but I know deep down, she was still the same Octavia who became my friend when we first reached the ground.

"We shall see why I am here," I whispered back. Octavia gave me a small nudge before taking her place behind Indra.

Suddenly, the muttering chatter stopped and a deafening silence instantly fell upon the room as two of the Ice Nation grounders entered into the space. The door closed behind them, sealing us all in one room. One of them was very tall. He stood almost a foot and a half taller than me it seemed. He looked around the room, taking his surroundings in. His eyes fell on me, almost surprised to see me standing there, so very close to him. The woman next to him, look at me too, her hand on her sword, ready to attack.

"Echo, stand down. We are here to talk," his voice rumbled as he spoke to the woman. She didn't take her eyes off me for a moment, but then turned away from me at looked at the rest of the crowd.

"Please, Roan, take a seat," Clarke said, standing up and gesturing to the seat opposite of her. Turning back to me, he slightly nodded his head and then walked to his appointed seat, which gave him a full view of the room and the exit. "Most of you have already met, but for the some that haven't, this is King Roan of the Azgeda clan and Echo," she introduced. In return, everyone who hadn't met the King introduced themselves to him and his bodyguard.

"Why is it that you have called us here?" Echo asked through gritted teeth. Pure irritation seemed to be her natural state of being.

"Because the world is about to end again and we need to figure out how to survive it," Clarke stated simply.

Of course. It's always something.
