You had just finished brushing your teeth and washing yourself to get ready for bed. As you tucked away underneath the covers to let slumber overcome your conscious and drag you into a world of surreal dreams and visions, you're abruptly interrupted by a sudden dinging noise from the device that lay on the bedside table next to you.

You shifted around and turned to drag your weary arm to retrieve your phone connected to the cable, rubbing your eye with your other hand as your propped your elbows up on the plush pillows that previously supported your head.

A text message from your friend. At this hour?  You thought to yourself. You quickly unlocked your phone which displayed midnight time digits, and read the message, stating "You awake?" Groggily, you sit up right in your bed and reply. "Yea"

"Come outside with your skateboard, I'm waiting." you wondered why he was out at this hour, but shrugged it off to quickly text back an "Okay, I'll be there in a sec".

You hopped out of bed and scribbled a note to leave in your room, writing that you've gone to hang out with your friend Killua and promising to be back home soon. As you placed it down where your parents would see if they were to find your absence, you pulled up some socks, quickly picked out an appropriate hoodie from the floor without second thought, and shoved some earbuds into your pocket as well. You quietly step down the stairs to make your way to the front door.

Your skateboard lay neatly tucked away in the closet nearby, and you also grabbed your favourite shoes to wear and raced out of the door to be greeted by the one and only silver-haired boy. He absentmindedly looked down at his phone screen while gripping his yellow and red board in one hand, and looks up when he sees you exiting the house as carefully and silently as possible.

"What took you so long, baka!"

"Well, I wasn't expecting you to be out here this late." the chilly wind whirled around your figure sending a shiver down your spine, and you noticed that Killua hadn't been wearing anything other than a t-shirt. "Aren't you cold? You can wear my hoodie if you'd like."

"No, that's alright. I'm fine."

He sets down his skateboard and hops on, kicking off with one leg to push himself forward and you do the same. The two of you are now rolling along the concrete pavement of the road as the wind blows your h/c back and Killua's white tuft is also divided to reveal his pale complexion shined off of the street lights.

"And of all times, why would you ask me to come out at this specific hour?" you asked.

He shrugged "I was just bored."

"Are you sure you suree you didn't miss me" you teased, inching closer to poke his arm gently while offering him a cheeky grin. He ignored what you said. You felt another skin-biting breeze, which makes you shudder and look over at Killua who seemed as thought he were desperately trying to hide the freezing sensation that shrouded him. "Wanna sit down?" you questioned.

"I'm fine." he breathes, a silver wisp of steamy vapour escaping his lips as it floats up into the cool air.

You could tell he really wanted to, so you begged him to rest. "Pleeasee?"

"Fine." he replied hesitantly but honestly, and you both finally come to a stop and sit down on the edge of the bare, freezing sidewalk. "Are you sure you don't want my hoodie?"

"I said I'm fine! I don't need your stupid hoodie!"

"If you say so." if he wasn't going to comply, then you weren't going to make sure he froze to death in front of you. You moved closer to him and rested your head over his shoulder, pulling out your phone to play some of your favourite songs as you plugged an earbud into your ear. You offered the other to him, and he warmly smiles, accepting the favour and putting into his own ear.

From there, you didn't want this moment to end. Him letting yourself relax against his stature, the lyrics of the music enveloping the two of you in a shared experience. Killua hummed some of the tunes, and you did the same. Time felt like an illusion; it was surreal how it seemed to have stopped in this moment of bliss. The numbness biting at your fingertips didn't bother you, as you only hoped for this comfort to last forever.

Without daring to ask, Killua grabs your hand to hold in his, the little warmth left seeping into your icy hands. This shocked you a bit, but you nuzzled up against him closer to watch your fingers beautifully intertwined with his as a unique work of art.

Droplets of water begin to fall from the indigo blanket of fluffy clouds, decorating the ground around you. The rain began to speed up, and you both stand up abruptly and laugh, relishing each other's presence and enjoying this foreign occurrence. You set your phone down, pulling out the earbuds and taking off your hoodie to cover the phone so that it didn't get wet. The music played at max volume, but you didn't care for no one was around to judge you or your friend.

You jogged onto the road and twirled in the shower of nature, and Killua joins, the both of you becoming soaked from the rain pouring down. You reached out and pulled his wrist for him to come closer to you, to which he slightly flinched at but loosened his tension and let himself dance with you in the darkness. At that moment, you felt you didn't need anything in the world other than Killua; you were completely content with his being to keep your company whenever you needed it.

A puddle formed itself in a pothole of the asphalt, and you kicked some of the water at Killua as he shielded himself and chuckled, failing to prevent himself from getting drenched by the splash. He immediately starts to race himself towards you in attempts to get you back for playful revenge, and you hear the music coming into closer proximity as you hurriedly approached and decreased the distance between you and the melodies.

You were now tired of the running and out of breath, and bend down to clasp your knees and take a breather. While you had stopped and were unknowing of your surroundings, Killua jumps in a huge puddle you were mistakenly next to, completely soaked within seconds.

"HEY!" you yelled at him, and begin to dash after him while laughing. He was insanely fast, making it difficult to do so, so you did tried your absolute hardest to speed up and gain momentum on him.

While running, you accidentally tripped over a rock and fell. Killua turn back and quickly sprinted over to kneel down over you. "Are you okay?" a worrisome look blurring his ocean blue eyes. You nodded, stunned by what had happened, and roll up your torn pants to fully expose a torn patch of skin.

He watched as blood trickled down your exposed leg as you repeatedly told him you were fine, and he scoops you up and sits you down on the sidewalk to take care of your leg. The silver-haired boy pulled out a cloth from his pocket and wraps it around your knee, making the pain more bearable as you bit your lower lip when he tugged on the knot to tighten it.

"Sorry" he held your leg before you nodded, allowing him to let go and let it lay it down.

Just then, your phone dinged under you hoodie to display a text from your mom, stating "It's 1 in the morning, come home right now."

Already? How could you lose track of time like that? You quickly got up and winced from the impact, and Killua quickly gets up to stabilize your stand.

"Thank you."

"Anytime." He picked up your belongings and returned them to you, and you grabbed your skateboard and Killua did the same. The two of you made your way back to your home.

Once you were finally inside with Killua uttering a brief goodbye, you peeled off the sticky wet clothes and changed into warm ones after getting a face-full of yelling by your parents. You returned to your bed and drifted settled into the cozy comforter when you received a text from Killua.

"That was fun, let's do it again sometime."

You smiled and laughed softly to yourself, and text back a quick "You bet". You clicked off your phone and entered the long world of dream-filled slumber for the night.
