It's been a couple mounts since her training at S.H.I.E.L.D.(that's what she started to call it because it's name is way too long). It's been going very well since she has a background in dance (also lots of crazy abilities) she picked up on fighting quite quickly. She still haven't beaten Nat but may be close in the near future. And of corse she told Dillion about it all because he is her best friend (he also know about her powers because who doesn't tell their best friend everything). No one else knows about S.H.I.E.L.D. especially her dad and Pepper because she didn't want them to freak out and give her a huge parent lecture.

Today is Peppers birthday and knowing her dad he most likely forgot so Basil had to make sure her day was the best she could make it even tho she was in New York. So Basil grabbed her phone and FaceTimed Pepper. With in the first couple rings she picked up and Basil bursted out into her angelic song of "Happy Birthday". Like if this girl sprouted wings and a halo while singing no one would be surprised.

"Happy birthday Pep"

"Awwww thank you Basil and you should sing for me more often because that was beautiful"

"No no no today is your birthday I should be the one giving you complements. O and speaking of giving you things, there should be a box on my desk for you."

"Basil I told you not to get me anything"

"Well then pretend it's from my dad because he is horrible at these things"

This caused the strawberry blond to laugh while venturing through the mansion to get to the blonds room. Once she opened the door she saw a small red box laying on the young girls desk.

"Ok pep stop staling and open it"

Another laugh came from the older women and she set the phone down on the desk while she grabbed the box. She lifted the lid and unwrapped the tissue to reveal her lost locket. Her face was a mix of relief that she hadn't actually lost it and confusion that the young girl would gift her that.

"Open it"

With that Pepper popped open the locket to reveal not only the original photo of her, Basil, and her idiot boss Tony, but a new one of the 3 in the exact same pose as the original. That already made the women tear up but the Basil told her to look on the back and what she saw opened the drawbridge to the waterworks.

By blood or not you will always be my mom

That's what was engraved on the back of the locket.

"Do you like it"

"O Basil this is the best gift I could have gotten"

"I'm glad you like it Pep and I hope my dad actually acknowledge is your birthday and I'm sorry if he doesn't"

"Basil you are always too sweet but it looks like it's time for me to take out the trash"

"O god what is it this time"

"An blond reported who doesn't know where she should stick her nose"

Basil laughed in response "I wish I was there to take the trash out with you, but since I'm not don't go too easy on her"

"Don't worry Basil I won't. I love you and have fun at dance"

"I love you too Pep and tell my dad hi"

With that she put down her phone and got ready for her day. She decided since she didn't have to be at dance till later she would text Dillion and see if he wanted to go out to Brunch. He responded that he would be at her place in an hour. That gave her an 30 to watch Netflix and 30 to get ready and pack her dance bag.

The hour has passed and there was no knock but Dillion yelling from inside her door "I AM STARVING AND IF WE DONT LEAVE NOW I WILL HURT SOMEONE"

"I'm coming, I'm coming also when did I say you could just barge into my house?"

"You gave me a key what else am I supposed to do with it?"

"The key was for emergencies only Dillion"

"Well this is an emergency. I'm starving and you are just standing there when we should be in the car by now"

With that Basil just shook her head grabbed her keys, glasses, hat, and dance bag. She told Jarvis to lock up and her and Dillion made it down to her white Mini Cooper in the garage. They made their way to their favorite brunch place with their usual table waiting for them.

"See now I remember why you are my best friend, you get me into really cool places" Dillion sarcastically commented.

Basil just laughed and rolled her eyes because she knew that Dillion never used her for her fame and money but would always joke about it.

They ordered their food and once they were done they headed to dance practice. Once inside they changed form their street wear to their ballet clothing. Basil loved ballet it jazz and contemporary days were usually her favorite.

They started warmup then across the floors. Then the class found their partners, Dillion being Basils. The partner work was tedious but Dillion and Basil always found a way to make it enjoyable.

Out of nowhere Basil's phone stared to ring off the hook. Her teacher excused her to see who it was and when she looked at the caller ID is kinda shocked her. It was Pepper. Pepper would know that Basil was in dance and it was also her birthday so Basil knew that this was important.

She excused herself from class and took the call in the hallway.

"Hey Pep what's going on"

"Umm Basil I don't really know how to tell you this" Pepper said with a voice that Basil knew she had been crying.

"Pepper what happened"

"Basil you dad ummm"

"What about my dad" at this point Basil was starting to really worry.

"Umm your had has been kidnapped and we don't know were he is"

Basil just stood there shocked for a second then it hit her. She might never see her dad again. Tears started forming in her eyes and there was no way of stopping them. Pepper was trying to get her attention from the phone that she dropped on the floor while she was in the state of shock. Now her face was streaming with tears and her legs gave out from under her. She then let out a disheveled cry, curling up against the wall.

Dillion's POV
I decided to excuse myself from class to check up on Basil since she has been con for a little. I am about to open the door to the hallway when I hear a sort of cry coming from the other end.

I quickly open the door to see Basil, knees tucked to her chest with her head in them leaning against the wall. When she heard the door she looked up and I could see tears streaming down her face.

I rushed to the floor pulling her into a hug and just tried to comfort her to the best of my ability without knowing why the normally smiley, bright, happy Basil who never let anything make her sad was crumpled up on the floor in a public hallway balling.

Then there was a barely audible whisper

"He's gone. My dad. They took him and now he's gone."
