A postman went beyond the call of duty, when he saved the life of an eleven month old baby.
It was a Friday afternoon in Greenville, South Carolina. Stephanie Cooper and Eli were home alone. Eli was eating and bit off a piece of the plastic wrapper with his teeth.
"I had just turned my back for a second."
Her immediate reaction was to swoop it out with her finger, but she was cautious not to push it back even further. He swallowed it and began to choke. Then she thought she had heard her husband come back from work. It turned out to be a mailman.
Chris Brown, a 24-year veteran of the post office was delivering mail when she ran out with the baby in her hands. He didn't know what was going on at first, but when he did, he went right to work. He started to give him compressions and didn't feel anything. It wasn't coming out, but then when he repeated it finally came out.
It was amazing how he was there at the best time! About a half hour earlier, he had recieved help from another mail carrier, when she picked up some mail. So that delayed him about three or four minutes. It was perfect timing!
