I walked into work on a Monday morning dragging my feet with a travel mug full of coffee glued to my hand. My eyes half shut and my hair in a bun. I felt like the world was ending and work hadn't even begun yet.

"Gather around ladies and gentlemen." Terry was up at the front of the room. I found Eli as we all shuffled toward the front. He started work two hours earlier than I did today. For some ridiculous reason, they had everyone on rotating shifts and weird hours. Some stupid rule change they implemented a couple months ago. Nobody really complained because a job was a job. "I have been given some news that I have to pass on to you. In two weeks time, the plant is officially closing." Everyone spoke up at once. Moans, groans and disgusted sighs filled the room of thirty four workers. "I will be answering questions one at a time" his flamboyant voice got louder. He was married with two kids, but acted and spoke in ways that said he bats for the other team.

"Why?" Alyssa was the first to speak up. She has been working here for a couple years, but is very quiet and generally keeps to herself. She's short, five foot at most. I never knew she had the loud of a voice.

"I honestly have no idea. I was just told last night and was told to tell you guys." Terry looked uneasy. It looked like he was going to get mobbed down. "My guess is that it has something to do with the economy, parts just aren't in demand anymore."

"That leaves both of us out of a job. What are we going to do now?" I asked Eli who was standing right next to me. His answer wasn't the most satisfying.

"We can always live off the land." That was the Amish part of him talking.

"No offense, but this is the eighteen hundreds. I'm not sure that will do." Besides a six month stint burger hut back in the day, this is the only job I have ever had. I didn't have any other experience or life skills.

"Maybe ask Emily if they are hiring at the supermarket." This is what he called Walmart.

"I'll ask." It was the only option I had at this point. There were no other factories in town and most jobs had dried up in recent years. The only reason I took this job to begin with is because it was the only one available.

"Furthermore, you will be compensated for vacation and sick days in the form of a check that will be mailed with your final paycheck." After that, he instructed us back to work. Like the rest of the employees, Eli just stood next to each other and did pretty much nothing. If the plant was closing, what was the point?

"Eli, you got a second?" I asked as we made our way toward the back in a partially secluded area. "I have something I need to tell you, but I don't want the whole building or anyone else knowing." I hadn't had a chance to tell him about the incident with Emily. If there was one thing he was good at , it was secrecy.

"What's up?" His voice got really low, almost to a whisper. It was now or never. Since Eli and I were in a committed relationship, I figured I had to tell him. "Is everything alright?"

"Everything is fine, I just want to tell you" I stopped. All of a sudden, my stomach got knotted. I grabbed the nearest trash can and threw up the bowl of frosted flakes I had for breakfast. "Sorry about that. The other day, when you left Emily and I at the house to go to the lot, something happened."

"What do you mean something happened?" This was his concerned voice. His voice was almost at a constant unless he was either concerned or extremely upset. Other than that, he showed zero emotion.

"Shortly after I laid down, Emily crawled into bed with me." I can't believe I was this nervous. I rarely, if ever got nervous. "She put her arm around me and then it kind of made it's was south." I was trying to be discreet in case anyone was eavesdropping. "It ended with her going down on me. I had one of the greatest orgasms of my life. I feel bad, kind of like I cheated on you." There. I said it. I hope this didn't affect anything.
