"Have fun last night?" Emily asked as I walked through the living room towards the kitchen. I was wearing one of my oversized shirt and my panties. Emily was already up playing on her phone. I froze as she looked up at me. Busted.
"A little bit." I was smiling from ear to ear. I gave her a little wink as I said it. "What are you doing up so early anyway?" She was sipping a cup of coffee wrapped up in a blanket. I barely even remember her coming back here.
"I never went to bed. How could I sleep with all that noise?" Her eyes met mine. She had a half smile. I didn't even have a response to that. "I made coffee about twenty minutes ago. Tylenol is next to it." She went back to her phone as I headed towards the kitchen. I took a couple Tylenol and poured some coffee. I was really feeling the effects of last night. There were some parts that I don't even remember. "When you and your boy toy wake up, can you take me to go get my car?" I sat down in the recliner across from her.
"Of course. You rode back home with us didn't you? Some bits and pieces are a little blurry." I took another sip of my coffee as I tried to open my eyes fully. I swallowed two Tylenol like candy.
"Eli drove us home after the cops showed up. He was the only one to pass a breathalyzer. I'll admit I was scared for my life, but for never having a driving lesson, he did pretty good." She seemed surprised. I do remember having to have him drive because I couldn't see very well. I probably could have driven, but it wasn't worth the risk.
"I remember that. I just didn't remember you getting in the car with us. I'm sorry." I looked at the clock. It's noon. "Is it that late already?" I started to worry. I had to be to work by two.
"I was wondering when y'all would wake up. Luckily, I'm off today, so no rush." She was a manager at the local Walmart. "And yes, I was way to drunk to drive and I can't afford a ticket. My insurance is already ridiculous." Around this town, any sort of auto insurance is way too high.
"Let me get dressed and I'll take you." I practically gulped down my coffee and headed back to the bedroom. My headache was slowly fading away.
"What about your Prince Charming?" Emily asked as we headed out the door. I threw on jeans, a sweatshirt and my boots. My hair was in one of the messiest buns possible. I had sunglasses over my because the sun was still to bright.
"I left him a note in case we weren't there when he got up. Speaking of, I need to wake him up when we get back. He's got to go to work to, I think." We pulled out of the driveway and headed off, hoping her car was still there and not an in impound lot. I was pretty much speeding as we headed there. The old clunker did pretty well for being twenty years old.
"So I had a lot of fun last night." Eli approached me at work later that day. When I got back to my house, he was gone. Thankfully, he locked the door on his way out. I expected things to be awkward as most hookups are, but it wasn't. Things went back to pretty much normal. "I only have a little headache, but not bad enough that I can't work through it."
"I had a lot of fun as well. Tylenol has took most of my headache away." I replied as I kept working.
"So I got an apartment in the city. It's a couple of blocks away from yours." A smile came to his face as he kept working. "My brothers and I signed the lease earlier. That's where I ran off to this morning."
"That's great. I'm proud of you. Maybe I could spend the night at your house next time." I laughed as he just looked at me. I wasn't sure if he understood or not. "I had to take Emily to get her car this morning, otherwise I would have stayed."
"So there will be a next time?" A smile burst onto his face as he had me for a second there. I started to feel an emotional connection that I have never felt before. Something about him made him stand out, I just couldn't figure out what it was. I smiled back.
