There were now only a few hours left before the fashion show , and students were running around to finalize the preparations . The team of improvised carpenters led by Pamela gave their final hammer blows to the runway , while on the platform the string quartet led by Violet repeated the pieces chosen to accompany the presentation of the models . Mira (Callisto) is among them . Colette was still looking for inspiration for her article , but the noise was such that the mouselet could not hear herself think .
Colette : That's it ! The article will just have to wait until after the fashion show ! At least everything is almost ready .
Just then , Pamela announced to her by joining her on the platform .
Pamela : Coco , we have a problem !
Colette : Oh no , not now....What happened ?
Pamela : Tamara , Dina's sister , from the Zanzi Bazzar just called ! She said that the red carpet you ordered to cover the runway never arrived !
Colette : We can't leave the runway like this ! Now what do we do ?
For a few seconds , the two friends stared silently at the bare runway .
Pamela : I have an idea ! Wait right here !
Under Colette's dubious gaze , the mouselet hurried away to reappear , a few minutes later , behind an enormous box overflowing with scraps of fabric abandoned by the stylists .
Colette : What are we going to do with that ?
Pamela : We're going to solve our runway problem ! Come on . Help me sew them together .
The two friends immediately set to work and , in less time than it takes to say it , the whole surface of the podium brightened up with the thousand and one patterns of the patchwork with which Colette and Pamela had covered it .
Pamela : Put your paw here , dude ! This is maybe not the most beautiful runway , but , we do our best !
Colette : Obvioustly ! We made it !
Far from them , Mira was still there . Not only was she cleaning the violin , she was listening to Pamela and Colette's conversations . Then she left the room with a mischievous smile .
