Aloha was a poor boy, but he had a gift to give.

He had brought the world back into tune, in front of the king who let it stray out.

He had sparked memories into the hearts of the two gods. He had re-sparked their affections.

So, Emperor and Gloves took each other's hands.

And brothers, do you know what they did?

They danced.

As life sprang around Aloha with his singing, Gloves seemed to shift into their cheery, summer self. And even the king of the dead smiled wide.

Emperor snaked his arm around his lover's waist, pulling them close. It wasn't an embrace of ownership, but...of love. He had been touched by the boy's singing, and he began to see it clearly; he was much like the king himself. Just...A man, in love with someone they'd give the world too if they could.

Gloves smiled, their amber eyes gleaming in the gold light that was created from Aloha's song, bringing life to everything. In that one moment, they forgave Emperor. They knew he...he was just trying to make sure he didn't lose them. And in his own doubts, he let the world starve and die. It was a terrible act, sure, but...hopefully he'd be better. Right?

The King of the mine spun the summer god around, and dipped them towards the now grass-covered ground. Gloves giggled, their voice like the babbling rivers up above, and kissed Emperor's nose.

Emperor smiled, his expression warm and kind. Nothing like the cold and hard king his workers were used to.

It was beautiful. Just...two gods in love.

As the song ended, Gloves pulled Emperor into a sweet kiss. They loved each other, very much.

And, some say that the King decided to give the poor boy a happy ending, and let him walk out of Hadestown hand in hand with his dearest muse.

But...Something stopped him. A voice in his head, telling him to put their love to the test. And he listened to that voice.

As Aloha and his muse-Army-were smiling and looking at each other with love, Emperor took a deep breath.

"Now, you two," He started. "I'm going to let you go-"

Before he could continue, Aloha smiled wide and bowed to him. "Really? Thank you, King Emperor. It means so mu-"

"But, you need to walk in the front. Army can only follow."

Their expressions changed, to those of...almost shock. "...I'm sorry?" Army asked.

"And, Aloha, if you dare look back to see him, Army comes back down to Hadestown. Permanently." Emperor explained. "We have quite a lot in common. I want to see how you handle doubt and...well, what's doubt without consequence?"

Aloha looked down, but nodded. "...Alright, sir. But, before we go, I..." He took a breath, nervous. "I want you to uphold the deal you made with Gloves when you first got married. Let them stay for half of each year on the surface, and on the other half, let them stay down below."

Emperor nodded. "Agreed."

The poor boy looked at his muse, who managed a small smile. "Well, Aloha?" Army started. "I promise, I'll be right behind you."

"And us!" Someone called. Emperor turned and saw it was a group of his workers. The friends of the youngest, who was leaning against Rider's arm.

"Lead us out of here, if...If h-he'll allow it." Prince said.

The king, again, nodded. "Of course. I...I was so blinded by my greed I did all of this. So...I promise, I'll set things right."

Gloves smiled. "I know you will, love."

"Well...we all ready?" Aloha asked, his lyre held tightly in his hands.

Army nodded. "We are. Farewell, Emperor. We'll return when we actually die."

Aloha turned and headed out, with Army and the others following behind, leaving Emperor and Gloves alone.

"...Think they'll make it?" Gloves asked.

"I don't know." Emperor answered.

They took their husband's hand. "Emp, you...you let them go."

"Well.. I let them try." He responded, with a shrug.

"Then how about you and I?" They asked. "..Are we gonna try again?"

Emperor nodded. "It's time for spring. We'll try again next fall."

Gloves smiled. "Wait for me?"

"I will." He pressed one last kiss to Gloves' lips, their red lipstick staining Emperor's own lips the bright color. He smiled, and let Gloves leave the embrace.

They headed towards the train, and Skull. Before stepping on, they turned to Emperor, and waved. "I love you, Emp!" They called.

"I love you, too." Emperor replied.

Gloves stepped on the train with their sunshine-filled suitcase, followed by Skull. The whistle blew, and it headed off to the surface.

The king smiled. He had regained what he was trying to keep all this time..
