"Hey Ja- I mean Bucky, what do you want for dinner?" I am so used to calling him James.
He walks out of his bedroom, "Steak? I didn't get to..." he trails off remembering his first night.
I turn around and smile at him, "Steak it is!"
As I am cooking dinner Bucky asks me, "What should we do tonight?"
"What should we do?" I repeat. "What do you wanna do?"
"Maybe we could watch a movie?"
"Sure that sounds good." I think we are making some real progress here.
After dinner is done cooking I dish up a plate for Bucky and hand it to him.
"Thank you Morgan."
"I hope you like it," I quickly look up and smile before I start eating.
There wasn't much talking during dinner so I hope that means he liked it. "Hey I'm gonna run up and visit a friend real quick," I say grabbing the steak left over pieces of steak off the extra plate.
"Who?" he asked with a small frown.
"Uh- Steve. And Sam. I promised I would bring Sam steak next time I made it." I am not sure if Bucky even remembers Steve before their encounter a couple days ago.
"Okay," he quickly said, then headed to his room.
I wanted to get going and visit Steve so I just figured I would check in with Bucky later.
As I'm heading upstairs I run into Wanda again. I try to avoid eye contact but before I could slip around the corner, "Morgan wait up!"
I come to a quick stop and turn around," Hey Wanda."
"How has your day been going? You look a little rough, everything okay?"
I knew this was coming. "Yea I'm good just slept funny last night, shoulder was kinda sore," I give one of those fake small talk laughs.
I start walking in the direction of the clinic while she's talking, "What about your eye?"
My heart starts racing, did my makeup wear off? "Oh that!" I try to laugh to give myself time to come up with an excuse. "That is just from... last night. I was rearranging my room!" I came off to cheerful, but I'm proud of myself for not freezing on the spot.
"You got a black eye from rearranging your room?"
Maybe my excuse wasn't worth celebrating, "Yes uh- a mirror... my mirror, fell on top of me while I was moving my dresser." That can happen right?
"Hm..." I gotta work on my in the moment excuses.
"Well anyway I have to go I'm going to visit Steve, might tip by Sam's place on the way there too." I am trying my best to get out of this conversation but she won't let me get away that easily.
"I'll stop by your place later tonight?" I need to fix Bucky room. What if she goes in there? I don't think she knows Bucky is here yet.
"Sure," I say as I'm trying to hide my worry.
"Great can't wait!"

I finally get up to Steve's room, "Hey I brought more food for you and Sam!" I look up to see he's packing already. He must have been discharged.
"Oh thanks!" he says laughing. "I'm clear to go home, want to walk with me?"
"I'd love to."
"So how is everything going with Bucky?" he asks while opening the door.
"A little bit of a bumpy start but I think things are starting to look up!"
"Good! I'm so happy to hear that, is he remembering anything yet?"
"I'm not sure, I'm hoping he will let me know when he does but whenever I just mention your name he kinda shuts down on me." I look over to Steve to see his smile fade. "Everything will turn out okay, he will remember you he has too."
He gives me a sad smile and we walk to his room in silence.
