The basketball game was one of the most watched events of the year. Everyone went. It didn't matter if you weren't into sports, or if you'd rather stay at home, studying or what not, if you didn't go, it was almost like an insult to the school. Which is totally ridiculous.
Jungkook still complained as Yoongi sat in his room, throwing the stupid orange ball up and down, 'warming up', for his game which was happening in less than two hours. Jungkook didn't really see how laying on his bed was warming his muscles up, but he didn't question it, happy his hyung was visiting him after a couple of days of hardcore studying.
The mock finals were coming up, and Jungkook was eager to achieve high grades, even if he was told countless of times that this grade wont really do anything in terms of his final diploma. He knew he had to achieve above average if he wanted to get into one of the top universities. It was inevitable that he was going to be working himself silly just to achieve what he wanted, but Jungkook was more determined than most, wanting to please his family in any way he can.
Taehyung was determined too - he wanted to join in the major championships in Japan.
It was hard to get over there, Taehyung would need a near to flawless record, (including a high grade in biology) which he had, surprisingly. It wasn't that Taehyung was a bad student, he just held a bad reputation. He was actually passing all of his classes, gaining high enough grades to consider Japan.
"You need a high grade in biology." His coach mumbled, tapping the sheet of paper that Taehyung and placed on the table between them. He nodded.
"That's why I'm getting tutoring." Yeah, from your soulmate. He wanted to roll his eyes at his internal monologue, it was obvious he was going to be distracted, but he had a goal, and he wanted to achieve it.
"Taehyung. I'm more than hopeful that if you carry on the way you are you will make it to Japan. But you need a backup."
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows. "A backup? But it's almost certain that if I get my biology grade that the team will consider me."
"You've been working on this grade for two years now. You just need a precaution." His coach spoke steadily, not wanting to accidentally insult or offend Taehyung. It was hard, because his coach wanted him to achieve more than anyone, but he had to be determined, and willing to sacrifice so much.
"I have a tutor now. That's what I said. I'm basically a foot in."
"A foot in is still too risky. Maybe you should consider one of the sports colleges? Gain some more experience ?"
It was something that Taehyung had consider. But basketball was his dream, he couldn't imagine not being a basketball player. It took him most of his teen years to convince his dad that he wasn't just messing around, why would he want to put the breaks on now.
"Give me two months." Taehyung bit his lip, his coach hesitating.
"A month. You need to raise your grade in a month. The mock finals are in three weeks, give me an A and I'll let you apply."
Determination flooded Taehyung's veins. He wasn't going to mess up. Not for anything or anyone.
