NOTHING LASTS - BEDROOM
"I just wanted to talk to you about some things." I put my hand over hers as she continued to hold on tightly to my arm.
"Oh, alright. So, you know everyone there? That's a lot of people." She glance, giving my stomach another reason to sparkle.
"You thought I was a loner? That just couldn't be, something as good looking as this would not get hit up by anyone." I laughed with her. My anger flowed out behind me. Turning into a small river that will soon evaporate in the hot heat.
"Maybe a little bit. I can't wait to sit with all of you."
My heart clenched. Her words are as soft as peaches, "Of course."
"Where are we going?" She looked up at me once again with those simple eyes. To be honest, I wasn't sure where we were headed. There wasn't any place to go other than...
"Let's go down to the water? The water isn't high over here." Her smile connected to mine, and we made our way down the stairs onto the sandy beach.
"Wait! Wait! I have to take my sneakers off." She let go of my arm and we both hurried to get our feet undressed. Lace after lace and then the pulling of a sock.
We laughed and tittered our way to the ocean. The water seemed so peaceful in the simple salty breeze.
"I've never been to the ocean before. I don't even know how to swim." She finally sat down after somewhat playing tag with her across the miles of white sand.
"I would come to save you," I said firmly; Just to say that I would. Even in the pitch-black, I would find my way to her.
"Of course you would. I know you would." She patted the empty spot next to her.
I sat down slowly. My heart again began to ache. I put my hand over my heart in hopes it would slowly go away; It stayed for a little until the silence broke.
"I can't wait to go to school with you. I think this year might be the best year of my life." I didn't have to ask why, we both already knew the answer to that question.
"This was the best day of my life," She sat her head down on my shoulder, and we looked out into the dark moving blob coming closer and then farther again from us. "Thank you."
The ocean looked so beautiful. The waves were glistening from the moon's shine. As it inched closer to our seats, it left us again and again.
Pearl sat up. I looked at her, I didn't feel like moving, but she didn't say anything, she simply put her hand out.
"What are you doing?" She giggled as her not existent response had left me in the dark.
She grabbed my hand and put her other hand in my other. She guided her hand that was holding mine, to touch her waist and let go. Leaving my hand to sit on her hip below her back. She brought her hand up onto my shoulder and slowly started to rock.
"You are beautiful." The lights from the dock allowed me to see so little but then again, all I needed to see.
We swayed as our feet tried their best not to get hurt. We listened to our friends laughing in the distance, seagulls flying above our heads, and the waves almost catching our feet.
"Thank you for tonight." She rested her head along my chest as we rocked like a ship back in forth in the waves of time.
I lifted my hands to wrap around her head, giving her no room to squeal or getaway. I hugged her head as tight as possible without trying to hurt her. Her arms found their way around my waist as we continued to dance in the dark night of July.
