The following day was Christmas and the common rooms were all filled with gifts from parents, family members and others for all of the students.
This would be the second Christmas Lucy had spent away from her parents, but she didn't mind. She was finishing up in the bathroom that morning when Tina walked in, the two of them wished each other a happy Christmas, and Lucy waited until Tina was ready before heading down to the common room.
Lucy dressed in a black t-shirt tucked into dark grey, plaid pants and boots. She grabbed a sand coloured winter coat in case the common room was cold. She brushed her hair and tucked the front pieces behind her ears. It was still semi curly from the night before. Tina came out of the bathroom and the two of them headed downstairs.
"Happy Christmas, Lucy." Grayson said as she came down the stairs, Reuben stood behind him.
"Happy Christmas, you two." She said, smiling at them both. They each collected their gifts from underneath the Christmas tree in the common room and began opening their presents.
After half an hour, the common room was full of parchment wrappers and students playing with and showing off their presents. Lucy was sat on one of the couches, surrounded by Tina, Grayson and Reuben when a tap on her shoulder startled her.
She looked over her shoulder to see Draco standing behind the couch. He motioned his head towards the common room door. Lucy grabbed her coat and a small box near her feet, got up and followed him out into the corridor.
"Hey. Happy Christmas." She whispered to him as they were outside the door handing him the small box. Lucy looked at Draco, he was dressed in a black sweater and dark jeans and boots.
She shivered as a stray breeze swept through the two of them and she quickly pulled on her coat.
"Happy Christmas." He finally said, reaching into his back pocket and handing her a small parcel. Before she even had a chance to open it he was speaking again, "listen. About last night. No one can know." He began. Lucy frowned at him.
"What do you mean, 'no one can know'?" Lucy asked, confused.
"Just that." Draco replied, crossing his arms over his body. "Zabini was asking too many questions, so don't go telling anyone, alright?" He said sternly.
"Zabini, and Pansy for that matter, have seen us snogging before, what's the big deal?" Lucy asked, more frustrated.
"There's no need to get snappy." Draco said.
"Yes, there is. You drag me out here, just to tell me not to tell anyone what we did? Do you think I'm stupid Draco?" She defended herself. "I guess that just goes to show how much you think of me." She whispered angrily.
"That's not fair." He snapped back.
"No, what isn't fair, is you telling me I can't talk to people about us." She retorted.
"There is no us!" He growled.
Lucy nodded, "something you've made perfectly clear." She said, disappointingly.
"Oh what? Don't tell me you actually thought we'd get together after last night?" Draco laughed.
Lucy shot him a deathly glare. "No, you just enjoy toying with me. Letting me believe that maybe something could happen." Lucy admitted.
Draco shook his head at her and rolled his eyes.
"I feel like this is a never-ending battle with you." He finally sighed.
"Then stop snogging me!" Lucy yelled. "Stop leading me on! This is why it's never ending, because you can't seem to stop bringing me back!" She added.
