Tap,tap, tap, a loud knocking sound from downstairs abruptly wakes Mackaela up, "what the hell is that noise," she mumbles thro yawning breath, "can't a girl get some sleep," she continues as she walks toward the stairs stopping promptly as she notices she's not wearing any pants, "oh god, that was close," she mutters as she scrambles back to her room throwing a pair of old tattered sweatpants on, and beginning her descent downstairs. Scanning the area she notices that no one is home, "of course they left me they hate me," she thinks, as she trudges to the door, slowly turning the handle and peaking thro the crack, a tall heavy set boy burst thro the door immediately picking her up and hugging her, "I was so worried about you," the boy says sincerely, "Alex what the hell are you doing here," Mackaela asks mesmerized, he begins to explain, but she quickly cuts him off, "actually I don't care I'm just glad you are, I missed you," she spouts as she guides him to her room.
Immediately as they break thro her doorway she grabs him pulling his body close and embracing him as if she knows this will be the last time she'll ever see him. Alex picks her up and carry's her gently over to her bed, placing her delicately onto the mattress, "Is your room actually clean," he jokes, "shut up," she says as she punches him lightly, her eyes scan his every feature taking in every detail as tho she's studying him, gazing into his eyes, he slips a cigarette out of his pocket and gestures toward her, snapping her out of the trance, "got a lighter", he questions, Mackaela politely hands him the closest one she can see leaving her hand on his for an almost unnecessary amount of time. He brings the light up to the front of the cigarette flicking it placing the flame to the tobacco and taking a prompt inhale, "so what's been going on," he asks sternly, "you were doing so good then all of sudden bam, you start up again what happened," Alex questions, Mackaela looks at him blankly, "I-I don't know what happened I'm so sorry I messed up," she cry's, "why are you sorry you didn't do anything wrong it's natural to have feelings," he continues as he wraps his arm around her.
She leans her head gently onto his shoulder, seeming comfortable, and happy, "I haven't felt like I can trust anyone in so long, then you came around and everything changed, thank you," Mackaela says, "why are you thanking me all I did was be a good person," Alex says as he begins rubbing her back, "I love you", Mackaela whispers to herself hoping Alex can't hear her, "what was that," he says,"nothing", she assures, "ok silly," he mumbles, "I love you too," he whispers back to himself. The two fall asleep cradled in each other's arms with a smile on their face.
