Carl Gallaghers Point of View
Dingggg. My stupid fucking alarm clock wakes me up. Another day in fucking hell. Amazing. If you don't know me I live on the wrong side of the fucking tracks. One of the poorest neighborhoods in Chicago. I share a room with my 3 brothers. But since the oldest, Lip, is off in college. And my bipolar mentally ill brother(Ian) HATES being home I have the room to myself. Well, mostly. Liam doesn't count. He's still a toddler so I can do whatever I want without him snitching. Did I mention I have 2 sisters and a niece on the way? Yep, one fucked up family. Debbie's a year older than me and she's knocked up, she's going to give birth soon. Her boyfriend left her, what a loser. I still love her though. The oldest is Fiona, she's 20-something. She's like our mom, she's always taking care of us. She pays the bills.
My dad Frank isn't really in the picture, I see him most days, but he doesn't live with us. He's probably living with some woman he met on the streets. He's an alcoholic. He cares more about alcohol than his kids. My friend Nick used to live here too, but he left to go back to jail. He fucking murdered someone. Didn't see that one coming. Nick and I used to run a business, selling guns and some drugs. But since Nick left I've been trying to stay out of those habits, focusing more on myself. And getting the ladies. Anyways I guess you can say I stepped out of my thug phase, no more braids, no more dealing. It's a relief I guess, now I can act like myself again, not trying to be cool for the girls at school, or the gang kids.

Hoping out of bed I check the time, 11:30. Fuck. I'm going to be late. I walk down the hallway and walk right into the bathroom I share with my 6 siblings. Looking in the mirror I brush my wavy messy hair. It's longer than how I used to keep it before my braids. Fiona(the oldest sibling) took them out for me not too long ago. After Nick was sent back to jail I decided that wasn't the thug life I wanted to live. Before you ask I wasn't scared. Carl motherfucking Gallagher is afraid of nothing.
"Morning Carl," Debbie yells as she bursts into the bathroom.
Debbie's clutching her large ass stomach. Sometimes I feel bad for her because there's no father figure in her baby's life. She's not even 16 yet, I guess it's a little young for a teen mom. But I know she'll have a supportive family.
"Mornin', "I yawn, still checking myself out. I'm still getting used to my new look.
"Carl move! I have to pee!" Debbie moans, pushing me out of the way of the toilet.
Sometimes I wish I didn't live here, there's no room for anyone. But for the most part, I like it on the south side. No rules. Most of the kids my age have guns. Honestly, I probably sold the guns to them. I made so much bank. Good business idea if you ask me.
"Jeez sorry Debs," I say not looking at her while she's peeing. There's no privacy in this small house. Everyone's used to it by now.
"Not my fault my bladder shrunk to the size of a grape because of this baby," Debbie yelps from the toilet.
Fiona and my brothers wanted her to get an abortion. But my father, Frank, convinced her to keep it. Frank said he would be a grandfather to the baby, but he isn't showing much care or effort to be in the baby's life so far.
