Chapter 10- Wishing upon a star

Lexi's P.O.V
It has been a week since the incident with Adrian happened and my family has been by my side the WHOLE time.

Don't get me wrong I love my family, but I need my alone time.

When everyone is asleep I go to the backyard and lay in the grass. I love the night. I lay down and look at the moon and stars.Ever since I was little I loved the night.

Flashback/ ⚠️mention of torture⚠️
I am 10 years old today and for my birthday Diego gave me a day off from torture. I am just sitting here imagining my life if I was normal. My birthday would be amazing. I would want a bouncy house and a lot of cupcakes. I wish people would give me presents because they like me and when they saw an item they thought of me.

"Wake up Princess" Diego said as he shook me

"What" I said kind of irritated. I just wanted a day alone

"Cut the attitude. I brought you a gift"

"You can go outside tonight just for an hour and then right back in" he said as he untied my arms from the chair.

"Yes sir. Thank you sir" I said as I got up, I fell down since I haven't stood up in about a month. My legs are very weak.

We walk outside and I go and lat down in the grass. I am out of breath from all the walking.

I take a deep breath and I close my eyes. I don't hear anything, it's so quiet and peaceful.
I open my eyes and look at the night sky and it looks beautiful. The stars and moon look so far away, yet so close. I wish I could touch a star. I love the moon and stars.

"Get up. Times up" Diego said as he pulled me up

"Ok. Thank you for this" I said and he just rolled his eyes

"I know that he tortures me every day, but he still has some good in him" I thought as I smirked

We walk back to my cell and just as I was about to go in he stopped me and we kept walking. I started getting nervous because I am thinking he is going to kill me.

"Here is your birthday present. A smaller cell" he said with a smirk.

I just nodded and sit in the chair. Their is no point in fighting it. Even if I got past Diego I still had to get past all the guards and I am very weak right now.

He ties my arms really tightly leaving me no room to try to take them off and then he left and locked the door.

I looked around trying to get familiar with my surroundings and I see a window something I didn't have in my last cell.

I would usually keep track of the days by marking a tally every time Diego would come and torture me.

I looked out the window and saw the bright moon with the stars.

I wonder if anyone is looking for me?

I talk to the moon every night because the moon doesn't judge. It just listens and gives you peace. I see that their is a star brighter than all the other.

I remember when I was little I would watch princess and the frog. In the movie there was a star just as bright. A firefly named "Ray" falls In love with the star and names it "Evangeline".

Anyway I name the bright star "Evangeline" since it reminds me of the movie
