It's been a month now since I first talked to Emo Ainsley. We haven't spoken much since then except for a few pleasantries that we exchanged. I want to talk to her more, but I'm not sure what to say. She's the most perfect emo girl I've ever met, I bet that she even pierced her ears herself.
I really wish I could talk to her more. At least I have biology with her, though we sit on opposite sides of the room.
"Ok class we are going to do a project. You will all have a partner for this project, pick wisely because this is a huge portion of your grade." The teacher says from the front of the room.
Kids start to get up and find there partners. I see Ainsley alone at the front of the room, doodling on her hand, like all emos do.
Now's my chance.
I walk up to her slowly and stand beside her. "Ainsley?" I ask cautiously. She turns to look at me. "Do you want to be my partner for the project?"
I hope she can't hear how fast my heart is beating. I stand there waiting for her answer, terrified that she'll say 'no.'
"Oh sure, I'd love to!" She says and gestures for me to sit in the seat behind her.
I sit down eagerly beside her, before soon realizing that I spent the entire class so focused on asking Ainsley to be my parter that I have absolutely no idea what the project is about.
"Let's try to get as much done of this as we can during class, but I doubt we'll get it done so maybe we can work on it together after school." She looks over at me for a few moments, before I finally realize she's waiting for me to say something.
"Oh yeah, that works fine!" I say a little too loudly. Some of the nearby students turn to look at me.
She chuckles and begins working on her computer.
Before I can muster enough courage to strike up a conversation, the bell rings.
Ainsley begins to silently pack up her stuff and begins to walk towards the door.
"Oh wait, Emo Kid, before you go-" she grabs her notebook from her back and rips a corner off of a page. She pulls a pen out of her pocket and begins to write something on the paper. "Here, now you have my number so we can plan when to work on the project together."
