"wait, wait, wait. calm down!" i said, gesturing for them to stop with my hands. when they have stopped yelling and arguing about whatever they were arguing about, i spoke up again. "you want me to help you write lyrics?"
"yes." chan said, nodding.
"and what made you think that i can help you?" i asked, looking at them like they're out of their minds.
"do you want us to be honest or do you want us to lie?" jisung asked,
"whatever's safer and doesn't involve me hurting someone." i said,
"what do you mean hurt someone?" changbin said, shocked.
"well, no one else knows that i attempted to write songs except minho and jungkook. there's no way that jungkook could have told you, so it's minho." i said, "what's the other reason?"
"wow, you're such a genius." jisung said, looking at me in awe.
"jisung read your poems from the teacher's faculty room." changbin said,
"hey, you told me to!" jisung yelled, looking at and pointing changin.
"we all read your poems." chan admitted, "we're sorry, but we really want and need an extra hand for a song." changbin and jisung stopped hitting each other and nodded to what chan said.
"why?"
"well, you see, our music's fun. it's energetic, it hypes you up, and the lyrics just overall boosts someone's confidence." changbin said, "we want something sentimental for a change."
"sentimental?" i asked,
"yeah, you know, like a love song." jisung said, "a song about love that wouldn't sound too cool or too sad. just in the middle."
"not heartbreaking either." chan added,
"a love song that isn't too cool nor too sad and not heartbreaking." i rephrased and they all nodded, "yeah, i don't think i can write anything like that."
"what?" they all exclaimed,
"why not?" changbin asked,
"you see, i can't just write songs. i write when i'm inspired or write things based on experience." i explained, "you want me to write a love song without any experience."
"so?" jisung asked,
"so, i can't just write a love song." i said, "it wouldn't be meaningful and it's just going to feel empty when you listen to it. think of it like a sad song, but the only thing that sounds sad is the instrumental and it's going to be depressing because of how dull it will be."
"you wrote love poems." jisung pointed out,
"based on a book and because i had to for the sake of my grades." i said, "well, the closest thing i can be able to consider as a love poem is what i'm thinking about right now which is levi."
"levi?" Changbin asked,
"do you want me to write it down or just say it?" i asked,
"you do you." chan said, so i took that as my cue to start talking.
"levi ackerman, i love you. my heart goes boom everytime i see you. you're my king, heichou. i hope isayama doesn't kill you." i recited and bowed after,
"sometimes i think you're so smart and then you do things like this." jisung said,
i scowled at him and he nervously laughed, "please help us write a song."
"do you really need my help or do you just want to see what-" i tried to ask,
"of course we need your help!" changbin exclaimed, patting me on the head.
"that sounds fake, to be honest." i said and laughed at changbin's reaction afterwards. "i'll see what i can do to help."
"FOR REAL?!" they all exclaimed and i nodded, "as long as this is kept between us."
"your secret's safe with us." chan said, smiling reassuringly.
[time skip]
"that's the plot twist, hannie." chan told jisung,
"is she really going to help, though?" jisung said.
"you're so annoying." changbin said and sighed out of exasperation, earning a giggle from jisung.
"you're stuck with me!"

"y/n" hyunjin whined, "i don't want to do this anymore."
y/n laughed at his reaction, "it's just an essay."
"just an essay that has to have 2,500 words. okay, y/n, whatever you say." he said,
"you don't have to put fancy words on it anyway. you just have to complete 2,500 words about a personal experience." you explained, "writing an essay is quite easy if you don't think that it's complicated or difficult."
hyunjin eyed y/n, looking at her like she's crazy. "easy for you!"
"would you rather solve a math problem instead?" you asked and he groaned, "you're not making this any easier!"
"writing an essay is easy! especially like this one." you pointed out, "we need to write something about our own experiences so it will just be like story-telling without reading it out loud."
hyunjin looked at you confusingly and you sighed, "treat writing an essay like you're writing on a diary. especially when your personal experiences or opinions are being asked. i honestly don't understand why so many people dislike this part, i personally enjoy it. it's like a part in school works where i and anyone could be able to express themselves and there's no right or wrong answer, well, unless you don't follow the margin and indention. sometimes teachers let it slide even if the grammar isn't correct, as long as whatever's written is connected to the question."
"i always get a low score on the essay part." hyunjin pointed out, "that's why it sucks for me."
"you get a low score because you already think that writing an essay sucks before you even try to write one." you explained, "you should honestly change that mindset."
"yeah, yeah. so, what should i do?" he asked,
you answered, "should you really be asking me that question?"
"yes?"
"ask yourself what you should do." you said, "all i can suggest is for you to work on that at home when you're alone so that you can focus on the paper. don't even think about how oh, it's so difficult because it's not. essays can only be answered by the person being asked and not anyone else."
"yes, ma'am. i'll do it after i take you home." he said,
"nope"
"what?" he said, whining again. "i thought we're going to eat barbecue later?"
"i took the day off in order to finish all of the assignments i haven't. including the essay we were assigned to pass this friday." you chuckled at hyunjin's expression, "stop frowning. it's not like i'm the only friend you have."
"well, you're my only girl friend."
