~Michael's POV~
"That was great!" Rich said backstage, wrapping an arm around my shoulders- or more like upper back, he couldn't reach that high- as we walked.
"Really? I don't remember any of it."
He stopped and faced me. "You didn't? That might just be the best performance we've had all week!"
I stared into his green eyes in disbelief, trying to search for any lie in his words. All I noticed was how dilated his pupils were and how he was nearly trembling with excitement.
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
"He's right," Jared said from across the room, taking apart his drum set. "We were awesome. Especially me," He flashed a grin, "But you too."
I smiled back at him before dropping it. "I- I was worried because I spaced out during it. Jeremy was- Jeremy was there."
Jared froze and looked at me, and Rich stopped from walking over to help Jared with the drums.
"Why was he there?" Rich asked, suddenly worried.
"Why would I know?"
"Isn't that like your crazy ex or something?" Jared asked.
He wasn't completely filled in with all the details, since when Rich and I met him and became friends I was at a state of hating talking about my time with Jeremy. We met Jared playing at an open mic with a girl on acoustic guitar. I never remembered her name.
Rich and I were in the crowd, trying to find recruits for our band that we had wanted to start. We sat by a boy in the audience who said he came to see his boyfriend perform, but never would have the guts to go up there and perform himself. He told us about Jared and how he might be a perfect fit for us. Turns out, he was right.
"I wouldn't call him 'crazy,' but yeah. It kinda shook me up for the rest of the concert. Apparently I still did well," I said to him, and he nodded in agreement.
"Well we better pack up," Rich continued. I was glad for the change in conversation. "We gotta get ready for Friday."
"And the mystery fan concert," Jared added.
Ah yes, the mystery fan concert.
You see, when you are loved by so many people, they will find entertainment in anything about you. Like, playing a game to determine your love life.
I've had to remind myself that it is just a game, not ACTUALLY to determine my love life. It kind of feels like that though.
Basically, two fans that are unknown to me will "confess" love to me and then fans get to vote who did it better, who looks better on me, etc.
"Right, the mystery fan concert!" I said. I totally wasn't trying to forget.
~Jeremy's POV~
When we walked out of the venue and to Chloe's Toyoda, I couldn't help but feel a bit excited but nervous about seeing Michael again. I knew I can't just have this be it, and then separate from each other once again. We were only fifty feet away, and even made eye contact, and even though that doesn't seem like much it was the most interaction we've had in years. I need more of it.
"When is their next performance?"
The girls stifled their laughter. "I knew you weren't over him," Chloe said, and I rolled my eyes.
"When is their next performance?"
"Y'know just watching him from afar isn't gonna help you hook up with him, if that's what you want," She continued.
"When is their next performance?"
"Friday. Same place, same time," Brooke finally said, and I nodded.
"Bless you, kind soul," I responded, glaring at Chloe. She wasn't bothered.
As we got in the car, however, she wasn't finished with her campaigning for me to get back with Michael.
"You are gonna buy tickets, right?"
"Uh no, of course not. I just want to know so I don't accidentally pass by this street at that time and run into him." That was sort of a real concern of mine, since I was debating if talking to him was a good idea. I knew that Christine would want me to, since she knew that I really wasn't over him. After being together for a while, we've both realized being friends was a better relationship for us to have. Even though we had a breakup, we never had a large amount of distance, and I'd consider her my best friend.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Jeremy," Chloe said, unlocking the car. "We know how much you want him, you don't have to lie to us."
"Yeah!" Brooke agreed, her loose blond curls sweeping over her shoulder to enter the passenger seat. "You can admit it whenever you're ready."
I scoffed and opened the door to get into the backseat.
"So, you're gonna buy a ticket for his next concert?" Brooke turned around in her seat to say as Chloe carefully pulled out of the parking spot and onto the street.
"Of course not."
I bought the ticket.
