~~~POV George~~~
Ranboo is gone.
Theres no trace of him. Not even a single footprint or a moved twig. Its almost as if he never existed in the first place. All my possessions are still here sitting on the ground next to me.
My knife along with him is gone. But that isn't a worry for me. I still have a sword to defend myself. Ranboo was my friend. My first friend as a matter in fact. And now I have no idea where he could be. A dreadful thought enters my mind. More like two dreadful thoughts enter my mind.
The first one being Skeppy got to Ranboo, and only took him because I didn't kill Bad. Ranboo did. Which, granted is a long shot. But in a way it makes sense... sadly.
The other thought isn't as much as a long shot. Maybe, just maybe Ranboo ran away. Either for my safety or for his I'm not quite sure. The only problem is it's so out of Ranboo's personality. He would have been too nervous to leave me. Maybe he grew a pair and decided it was best to split up. But in no life would it be a good idea to split up. Not when we are supposed to hunt, and instead we are being hunted.
Sitting up I pull my knees to my chest, dragging along dirt from the ground with my feet. The forest is busy. There are crickets and chips coming from all directions. The forest never sleeps. My head drops, and my posture turns into a slouch. I don't know what to do next. I'm alone. My heart tells me to go find Ranboo, make sure he is okay. But my mind tells me to follow the glowing compass. End this misery once and for all. Kill the traitor. And in the process? Just maybe find Dream.
My mind takes over. I push my heart to the side. I have to do this. It needs to be done at some point. One glance at my watch makes my heart drop. Three and a half days have passed. Oh crap. I slept super late. Time is valuable, and I just lost half a day's worth.
I leap to my feet, slinging my backpack over my shoulders and grabbing my sword. As I run in the direction the compass points a bitter taste fills my mouth. When I lift my fingers to touch my tongue and pull them away they come back with a yellow liquid on them. Blood. I must have accidentally bit the inside of my cheek too hard while concentrating on the challenge in front of me.
Thanks to Ranboo I still have his flashlight. My only source of light in these woods. You find out quickly that the deeper into the woods you go, the darker. Which means a higher chance of running into many trees. And when I say many... I mean many. The small light source has saved me from one too many collisions with a tree.
The smell of these woods is still the same old smell. Pine and dirt. Nothing too special about it anymore. This smell has become the new normal. But when I go to sleep, and wake up in a different world? Thats when the smell leaves, and is replaced by magnificent smells compared to this boringness. When I drift into sleep I go to a different world. A world that isn't this hell hole. And I'm sure by now we all know that this world sucks. If you don't...well... consider yourself lucky.
After a while of walking my mouth becomes dry. The bleeding from my cheek had stopped a while back, and it left a salty taste lingering there. Word of advice. Don't eat blood. It's gross. In my pack I still had Ranboo's small water bottle. This small thing makes me worry again. Worry about Ranboo, and if he's okay. Honestly, I just want to know if he is dead or alive. I want to know the condition he is in. He has no flashlight, and no water. I believe the only thing he has is my small knife to defend himself. Of course a little can go a long way. Maybe he managed to run into someone who could help him?
Not having Ranboo with me makes me feel lonely. And I didn't think life could get more lonely. Oh how wrong I was.
I gulp down the rest of the water in the bottle, wiping the excess liquid from my lips after. I sit on a flat rock and take off my shoes letting my feet relax for a minute before resuming the running. While I'm waiting I pick the mud collected over the days off the bottom of both my shoes. Trying my best to clean them off. Seeing how dirty my shoes are I wonder how dirty the rest of me is. I haven't washed myself at all in the last three days. Sure it wasn't the most important thing going on, but surely it would have been nice. Now I doubt I will get to wash myself down for a while. Probably not until I find a river of some sort. I probably stink.
My stomach started rumbling but I didn't have much food left. Only a few crumbs. I would just ignore it but It kept growing louder with every grumble.
"Will you just shut up?" My response was another low grumble from my stomach that made my insides turn.
When you have no one to talk to for a long period of time, you start talking to yourself. Or in this case... your stomach. I promise I'm not insane. Sure, maybe a little hungry, and sleep deprived, and lonely, oh and don't forget hallucinating. Just not insane. A few leaves rustle to the side of me. I just assumed it was the wind. Guess what? I was wrong.
My feet carried me forward. Deeper into the woods. I snapped into a trance. Aware of my surroundings and yet unaware all at the same time. I could hear the sounds of the bugs scuttling across the floor, and the sounds of pinecones hitting the ground in a crunch noise. I also could hear the shifting of footsteps. But none of it ever processed. I kept my eyes glued on the compass most of the time. Occasionally looking up to make sure I wasn't going to fall off a cliff of some sort. After looking up for a minute or two I would resume starring down at my glowing compass. Secretly hoping that I would never find out who the compass is pointing too. Hoping that someone would beat me to the punch, so I wouldn't have to be the one to carry out the evil deed.
How I did not hear the crunching of pine needles from behind beats me. But by the time I realized. The compass made a sharp left turn. I tried to react. My head jerked in that direction preparing for anything. But it was too late
In one swift movement a shadowy person stood in front of me. Bow empty.
And an arrow flying at my chest.
This was a super short chapter. I haven't had much motivation so I think I'm going to do shorter chapters instead of long ones. I think that will get me to update the story more often. Thoughts? Also thank you so much for all the reads, votes, and comments! You have no idea how much it helps.
Maybe sure you all are taking care of yourselves. Until next time! <3
