FLASH FORWARD
Staring at my computer screen I have no idea how to start. My cursor blinks impatiently waiting for me to start writing. To start writing my story. It's been over four years since the simulation. My hands hover above the keyboard that lays in front of me. I try urging my hands to move, but they don't listen. How do I start?
Instead of sitting there looking stupid I shut the computer with a frustrated sigh. "I'm going out for a walk. I'll be back in a bit!" The apartment is small enough for my shouts to be carried into every room.
"Alright Georgie! I love you!" I bite back a smile at the dumb nickname and walk over to the hangers to grab my coat and scarf.
"I love you too!" And with that I leave the apartment complex. Outside the air is crisp. Colder then a usual late October day, but I'm not complaining, cold weather is the best. As I walk the sidewalk on my usual route I pass the coffee shop, stopping in to get my usual hot chocolate. I am sure to thank the barista before continuing on my walk to the park. Taking my normal seat under a tree I sit and observe people. There are a few parents talking while their children are chasing each other with wooden swords. I chuckle, well knowing how to use a sword myself. How I know how to use one, I'm not fond of, but it does make me seem badass. Or at least thats what Dream and Sapnap would say. Not wanting to be lonely I dial Sap. He quickly picks up the phone.
"Hey! Wanna meet up at the park?" I hear distant chatting coming through the phone on his end.
"Look over by the canopy." With that the phone call disconnects. Confused I look to my right in the direction of the wooden canopy that hovers over some picnic benches, and sure enough standing there is good old Sapnap. He waves at me with a smile on his face and walks in my direction. I get up to greet him. "I was told I could find you here." I roll my eyes. I only need one guess on who told him.
"What are you doing here?" He takes a seat right next to where I was originally sitting.
"Just wanted to see one of my best friends. Something wrong with that?" I push him a bit and take a sip of my hot chocolate, letting it warm me up as it fills my stomach. "Is that hot chocolate?" I nod and Sap takes it from my hands and gulps some of it down, afterwards being sure to return it to me. "A little too hot, but refreshing."
"Its called hot chocolate for a reason idiot." He shakes his head as if that doesn't mean anything.
"How's the writing coming along? You still writing about the experiment?" I nod my head.
"Before you ask, yes, you are in the book. And, it isn't really 'going'." I let my body loose its poised stance and slouch a little.
"Well, whats been preventing you from writing?" I shrug my shoulders unaware of the answer.
"I would love to know. It just feels wrong. You know? I want to get my- our story out there. Everyone in the experiment deserves to be heard. I just don't know how to make that happen. What if people don't care?"
