ten's sobs eventually diminished to quiet hiccups, his hands loosening their grip on johnny's jacket.

the two boys sat together watching the sunset comfortably, ten in johnny's lap.

"it's getting pretty late," johnny said as the only thing left of the sunset was a sliver of orange. "we should head back home before it gets too cold. ill walk you to yours, okay?"

johnny then frowned as he felt the boy in his arms begin to shake again, his breath becoming uneven all over again.

"ten, you're okay. i'm here, okay? i'll get you home."

"i-i can't- i can't go home johnny." ten said between sobs. he was so tired.

"what? why not?"

"i just can't" ten whispered so quietly johnny almost didn't hear him.

"okay," johnny began as he ran his fingers through the thai boy's hair, "but we can't stay out here tonight, we'll freeze to death for sure." johnny paused briefly, probably not the best time for comic relief  "how about you come to mine? my parents are gone for the weekend, not that that matters, i was just saying-" johnny began to ramble until ten lifted his head.

the sight of the small boy's red cheeks and puffy eyes effectively silenced johnny.

"okay, thank you." ten said weakly, trying his best to smile up at johnny as the two got up and began their walk back to the older's house.
