Prologue:
Everything happened so fast. Doctors and nurses all rushing to his room. Why did it have to be him? He had so much life to live. Why couldn’t it be me? The tears were streaming down my face as I watched the doctors do what they could to keep him alive, but nothing was helping. I felt my heart break as I heard the beep of the monitor stay still. I left the room to see my mom with Avery
“How is he?” my mom asked.
“He’s gone,” I whispered as I saw my daughter start to bawl her eyes out. She was only seven. She shouldn’t have to go through this. No one should.
The doctor came out of Josh’s room. “I’m sorry for your lost.”
Avery started crying even more. “Daddy’s gone,” she whispered and it only made more tears fall from my eyes. I went and hugged her tightly. I lost my best friend, my lover……….my baby’s daddy.
I remember the last thing he told me before he died. “Find someone else who will love you and Avery. Don’t be afraid to move on,” and with that he let go. But I don’t think I can ever love again.
