Day 5 - The Scarf

That second night in the woods had been eventful to say the least, no one had planned the encounter with a wild demon, but at least everyone had escaped unscathed... Well, except Emma and Ray, One had not been careful enough with her serious ear injury and the other had distracted the wild demon which led him to be chased by the pursuers of Grace Field... Without Sonju's intervention, he would have died already... Rather ironic when we know that he had promised to live for his family a few hours earlier, but everything was fine now...

Anna had observed all this from a corner of the cave where they were being taken in by the two friendly demons, Gilda was grounding Emma in front of her and Chris with the other children were also grounding Ray about the risks the two of them had taken, After a moral lesson (honestly well-deserved according to Anna) Chris pointed out that Ray had sacrificed his scarf to escape the wild demon, so he asked Ray to take him in his arms, which the latter did without flinching, so little Chris wrapped his scarf around their two respective necks (even if it was above all a good excuse to have a hug). But this tirade had given an idea to the angelic blonde haired girl, she was going to use her patience and her talents to make a new escape for Ray.

She spent as much time as she could, the days when they moved from the caves to the bunker were not very busy, but they had to move on. Nevertheless Anna would find a little half hour every once in a while, once they were all settled together in the bunker, Anna would spend as much time as she could on it. Admittedly her skills were limited and she did not have the most expert hands in the world. The scarf wasn't perfect, but she put her heart into it. Rossi often helped her, not because he was gifted or skilled, he wasn't especially patient either but he liked to see Anna smile so he helped her all the time, it was a great pleasure for Anna who had taken her time to make her little crocheted cuddly toys, including two who represented them with Anna carrying Rossi to give him a hug, Anna in her attention to detail and attention to her little brother, had imitated the gift by taking Rossi in her arms to hug him and thank him for his kindness.

Anna had taken days to finally make a scarf that few would call beautiful, but it was her work, and she even took the time to embroider Ray's name on it. He told himself that she was really a good person and he thanked her with a kiss on the forehead, which made the girl blush, but she quickly came to her senses and answered him with a radiant expression and a big smile.

The years had passed since the making of this scarf, all the children of Grace Field had joined the human world, Anna and Ray had become so close to each other that they were confidants, almost like soul mates. Anna had taken advantage of an opportunity to have some free time with Ray to invite him for a one-on-one date in an aquarium, Ray had accepted with great pleasure and she was having fun imagining with Emma and Gilda (and Nat who likes to talk about clothes with them) what outfit Ray could have. Everyone seemed to agree that Ray would wear something simple and practical but with a certain elegance, Anna seemed to agree and everyone wished her a great day. But how surprised she was when her Ray arrived with the scarf she had made for him years before.

Ann: R-Ray? Why d-do you wear this s-scarf?

Ray: Well... Since you've always only wanted me to be happy, I thought I'd pay tribute to one of the most valuable gifts I've ever received... So here I am.

He said that with a soft and sincere smile, that little attention had moved Anna to the depths of her being, she gave him another one of her angelic smiles before starting what was shaping up to be an unforgettable day.
