Damnit woman! What the hell?

I meant what I had said; she wasn't getting away that time. I ran after her as she ran past the lobby and up the stairs.

"Grace! Grace, wait!"

Deja-fucking-vu.

She made it up the stairs and down the hall, wrapping her hand around the door handle, before I closed in on her. I grabbed the handle over her hand and pushed it open, forcing us both into the room.

I slammed the door shut and she took a few steps before turning to face me.

"What the hell!?"

"Exactly! What. The. Hell?"

"Why do you always have to push me Colt!? Why can't you just mind your business?" She yelled.

"Well, why do you have to be so damn stubborn!?"

"Oh, so we're doing this again?"

"Apparently so! Ask yourself Grace, why does the topic of Mark piss you off so much?"

"Because we're over! I'm not with him anymore! I lied, okay? Why don't you go back down to your girlfriend. I highly doubt she would be okay with you up here."

Two things. They were over? And my fucking girlfriend?

I took a step closer to her and just as expected, she didn't back down.

"You're not engaged? You're telling me you're not with Mark anymore?"

Her expression fell as she shook her head. "No. I broke it off with him when I found out he didn't even know I was missing until the next day."

I cursed under my breath. I knew he was a piece of shit, but fuck.

"Why didn't you tell me? Why did you lie?" I asked, taking a step closer as she took a step back that time.

"Because I--I don't know." She crossed her arms over her chest, the top of her breasts exposed because of her dress. I stalked closer, causing her to take another step back. Feeling like the hungry predator that time and her the prey, I wasn't letting her out of my grasp.

"Why Grace?"

"Because you have a girlfriend Colt!"

I racked my brain trying to figure out what the hell she was talking about. Then it hit me. Finally. Cause apparently I was an idiot.

"Do you mean Lucy? The blonde downstairs?"

"You know, I am sure she would be happy to know that you at least remember her name."

I chuckled, shaking my head and stepping closer until her back was pressed against the wall.

"Lucy is not my girlfriend. Pretty sure that is illegal seeing as how she is my cousin."

Her head jerked back as she searched my face, her eyebrows pulling together in confusion. "Your--your cousin? But I saw you coming out of a room together."

"Yeah, I was helping her with her bags. She's visiting for a week."

Her eyes went wide as those perfect lips of hers formed an 'oh.'

"Tell me Grace, why would me having a girlfriend bother you?" I asked, placing my arms on either side of her head, caging her in.

"No reason Colt." She further inched her back against the wall, trying to create some space that didn't exist.

"Really? So you just ran off for no reason too then?"

She rolled her eyes and scoffed. "What does it matter? Look at us, we're already fighting. We can't seem to be around each other without frustrating the other one."
