A little story I've written for the lovely Jocelyn :) Please enjoy hehehe

I stare at the house in disdain. It's not ugly or horrible - it's just not in Brisbane, the place where all of my friends live. Instead it's in Sydney, the place where my father has dragged my mother and I to live. Hooray!

Not.

My room is already set up, most of our things sent ahead so we could move straight in. I collapse on my bed and start texting all my old friends straight away. I miss them already. I'm going to miss them even more on Monday when I have to start school.

Monday morning comes around, and yes, I miss my friends so much more. It's a huge school here, and I'm really lost.

"You ok?" a voice asks, and I turn to see a girl with bright violet hair.

"Just... a little. I'm looking for the office," I say with a grin. I'm not in the slightest shy.

"I'll take you," she replies cheerily. "I'm Amy." She sticks her hand out.

I take it. "Jocelyn."

Then we're on our way.

I stick with Amy all day, since we're in most of the same classes. She introduces me to her friends and lets me sit with them at lunch. She's loud, funny and crazy - just like me. We all get to know each other, and by the end of the day I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.

"All I need now is a job," I say as Amy and I walk out of school.

"You know, I think I might just be the coolest person ever. I can fix that problem too." She flashes me her smirk which I've already come to know as her trademark. "I work at this cafe, and we need another waitress for weekends. It's called 'The C Word'. I can take you to see the owner some time if you want?"

I laugh at the name. "A cafe sounds perfect. I'm addicted to coffee!" I give a little squeal. I've worked in a cafe before, and I loved it. Seriously, things are looking up.

"No problems working weekends?" Jen, the owner of the cafe asks as she wipes down a table.

"No, I'm happy to work whenever. And I've worked in a cafe before," I say with a warm smile.

Amy stands in the corner watching us, looking rather smug at how clever she is. I poke my tongue at her when Jen isn't watching.

"Alright, well you and Amy can organise what shifts you want on Saturdays and Sunday. I'm easy. Just split them between yourselves, as long as one of you is here at all times."

I can't stop the huge grin that plasters itself on my face. "Are you serious? You're giving me the job?"

Jen stops and looks at me weirdly. "That's what you wanted, right?"

My face drops. "Uh yeah, sorry, yeah it is."

Jen laughs. "All good. Ease up kid. You can't take yourself too seriously if you're going to work here."

I look at Jen's piercings and tattoos, and Amy's vividly coloured hair. "All good. I can loosen up. See you this weekend."

Amy and I bump knuckles as we walk out of the cafe on Wednesday afternoon.

"You are a god," I say to her as she leads me back to her car.

"Trust me babes," she winks. "I know."

The weekend shifts are fantastic. I take Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, and then Amy and I have decided to alternate each weekend so it's fair. I learn everything really quickly, as it's really similar to when I worked at Vanilla Pod in Brisbane.

"Your pay'll be ready Wednesday if you wanna pick it up after school," Jen's girlfriend, Mara, says as I'm getting ready to leave Sunday.

"All good. Thanks so much." I wave goodbye and then head for home. It's close enough to walk, so that's a plus.

I hold up the envelope and inspect it proudly. My first pay check from my new job!

"Now, what to do with you," I muse, flipping the envelope in my hands.

"Bank it," Mum says sternly from across the room.

I roll my eyes and groan. "What a mum thing to say."

"What a responsible thing to do," Mum counters. "You want a car, you have to save."

"I want clothes too," I whine.

"Says the girl who had five boxes of just clothes for the move." Mum gives me the all knowing mother stare, and I cave.

"Fine! I'm going!" I raise my hands in defeat, grabbing my bag and heading out the door.

I wander along with my headphones in and sunglasses on, enjoying the sunny day. I don't really know where I'm going since I've only lived in Sydney a week, but I'm sure I'll find my bank at the shopping centre.

Don't look at the shoes, I tell myself over and over as I walk through the shops. I find an info board and head for the bank I need. I stand in line, but it's not too busy and a couple of minutes later I head for the counter.

"Hey, how are you?" the teller asks.

My answer? A blank stare. He is the hottest bank teller I have ever laid eyes on. He has naturally tanned skin, black hair that's short on the sides and longer on top, and deep brown eyes.

"What can I help you with?" he asks again, the smile not faltering on his face even though I'm gawking line an idiot.

"I just need to money my deposit," I stutter.

He laughs, and I don't know what's funny. "I can deposit your money, but not money your deposit."

I turn bright red and giggle nervously as I realise my mistake. "Oh yeah, that'll have to do then," I joke awkwardly. I hand him my bank card and the cash, noticing his name is William as he counts it out.

"Anything else Jocelyn?" he asks with his charming smile still in place.

As he hands me my card and receipt back, I wonder how he knew my name. "How did you kno- never mind." I realise it's on my bank card. I am such a tool. "Um..." I want to say yes, there is more he can help me with, if only to stay and stare at his pretty face some more. "Nope, that's all. Thanks."

I walk away and mentally slap myself for being such a moron in front of the hottest guy I've ever seen.

"I half expected you to come back with shopping bags," Mum says as I walk through the door.

"Nope," I answer, falling onto the couch.

"Don't tell me it actually made it to the bank?!" Mum asks in fake shock.

I grin. "I swear to bank my money every week." And that's a promise I intend to keep.
