I go to Amy's house straight after school on Friday, having taken all my sleepover necessities to school and dumped them in her car in the morning. When we get to her house, I'm really surprised to find the house looks normal. I guess I kind of expected the eccentric Amy to live in an eccentric house.

"Hey Mum!" Amy calls as we walk inside. She dumps her school bag at the end of the couch and motions for me to do the same, and then we head for the kitchen.

Amy's mum is in the kitchen, baking something that smells awesome. We're introduced, and I'm not surprised in the slightest - she's just like Amy. We chat for a little bit before we grab our things and head up to Amy's room.

Abstract art, tie-dyed curtains and a multicoloured bed spread are the first things I notice. It's definitely suiting to her personality.

"What do you think?" Amy asks with a huge grin.

"It's so you," I reply, going over to look at a Siamese fighting fish.

"That's Jim," she states simply.

I give her a puzzled look. "Jim?" I expected a much crazier name.

"Yeah, Sheriff Jim Shannon," she elaborates. "From the TV show Terra Nova."

I burst out laughing. "Yeah, that's something I'd expect from you."

For the rest of the night we talk about girly things of course. And her 'revolutionary' advice? Be confident and be myself. Thanks a lot, Amy. She does go into a bit more detail, and of course it makes sense, but whether or not it actually happens like that when I see William is a different story.

Amy drops me home on her way to work Saturday morning, then I walk to work for the afternoon shift. Though I spend all day with my hopes up, I'm disappointed when he doesn't turn up. But of course I can't expect that he will. I'm sure he actually has a life.

Sunday is our busiest day, and I'm rushing about clearing tables and taking orders nonstop.

"Sorry," I say, flustered as I clear another table.

"All good Joc," comes his voice, and I look up into his deep brown eyes.

"Oh, hey," I say with an awkward smile. "Uh, take a seat and I'll be with you soon."

I dump all the dishes and quick as possible without looking crazy, indiscreetly flatten my wavy hair and head over to Will's table with a menu and my notebook.

"Hey sweetie, sorry I'm late." A gorgeous blonde comes waltzing up, placing her lips on Will's before sitting down.

Well ain't that a kick in the ribs. I try not to let it bother me as I continue making my way over, but I'm crushed. He has the prettiest girlfriend in all of the world, and now my serious pining seems stupid. I quickly grab another menu and then stop at their table.

"Hey, so menus," I say casually, handing them each one.

"I'm just gonna ask the expert," Will states, not bothering with his menu. "What's good?" He looks at me expectantly.

His ridiculously pretty girlfriend scolds him. "Sorry about him, he's so rude!"

I laugh. "Don't worry, I'm used to it." I shrug.

Will smiles. "Jocelyn comes into work each week."

"And come to think of it," I say, musing. "You make fun of me there, so shouldn't I get to make fun of you here?" I'm surprised at how casual and normal I'm being while I die on the inside.

"Alright, what ya got?" Will asks, waiting for my quip.

I stand stunned for a few seconds. "Yeah, I got nothing. Anyway, coffee - always a good choice. The bagels are to die for, and if you feel like eating your entire daily energy requirement before 10, the fried big breakfast is the way to go."

I take their orders, exchanging a few jokes and smiles with the two of them. The worst part? The girlfriend is nice as well as beautiful. Devastated. It's pretty busy, so I don't get to talk to them - not that I'd want to interrupt their little breakfast anyway. We have a quick chat when they're ready to leave and pay. It certainly didn't go as I expected, but at least I didn't make a complete dick of myself.

I walk home in a state of depression. Ok, so maybe it isn't that bad, but still, the hottest guy I've met since moving to Sydney has an annoyingly gorgeous girlfriend. Forever alone - seriously.

'So Will turned up... with a pretty blonde girlfriend. FML' I text Amy as I walk along listening to Frank Ocean.

'WAH?! :( sorry to hear hun. But if you wanna double date, I'm seeing Jason tonight and he can bring Scott? T'would be sooooo fun!! :)'

I laugh as I read her message. I guess wolf whistling at Jason the other day really worked. But I'm really not interested in the sporty type, even though there's no denying that Scott's a total babe.

'All good. I'll just have a quiet one and be all depressed and crap :P I'm sure I'll survive haha. Have fun with Jason though ;)'

Amy tries to cheer me up on Monday by saying how terrible her date with Jason was. From her description though, it sounded like a perfect date.

"He's boring," Amy whines, picking at her lunch. "It was so... by the books. Opening doors, pulling out chairs, not kissing on the first date. It was like going on a date with a grandpa or something."

"It sounds sweet," I counter, but I don't know that Amy's really into the 'sweet' type.

As Jason walks over to our table, Amy gets up to intercept and break the bad news to him. I sit there and think about how I wish I could have a perfectly romantic date with Will, even just once.

On Wednesday I'm really scared about going into the bank. I don't know why. It's stupid to be scared of seeing Will now just because he has a girlfriend. He's still nice and totally perve worthy.

"Hey," I say with fake cheer as I walk up to his window.

"Hey, how's it going?" he says with a smile, taking my things.

"Good. How'd you like The C Word?" I ask casually.

Will laughs. "That sounds so suss. But it was awesome. Though you were right, my arteries pretty much died from that breakfast."

I shrug with a laugh. "I warned you."

"I love taking risks though, so I was thinking of making it a regular thing. You work every Sunday?" Will asks without looking up as he types at his computer.

"Uh, every second Sunday morning shift. Otherwise I'm in the afternoons." I shift uncomfortably from foot to foot.

"Cool, well maybe a fortnightly fix is a good thing. Otherwise I might die," Will says with a chuckle. "There you go." He hands me my things. "See you next Wednesday."

"Thanks." Then I leave, feeling better than I did when I went in. Why? Because even though he has a girlfriend, I'm sure Will and I are going to have a pretty awesome friendship formed through our regular meetings at each other's workplaces.

Four months later and I'm not wrong. Every Wednesday and every second Sunday finds Will and I laughing like idiots, catching up with each other and being all round stupid. I've never had so much fun with any guy before. Of course he's still hot, so thusly it means I am still hopelessly crushing on him. But I know we can't be anything more than friends until the girlfriend is out of the picture. Not that I'm wishing for them to break up, but if it did happen, it'd be nice for me.

So for now, I really am 'forever alone', in love with my bank teller who has a girlfriend. What a seriously normal life I lead.
