[title: winter's weather - as it is]

Ranboo shivered. The air around them was cold. Very cold. Why? They opened their heavy eyes and replaced their fallen crown atop their head as they sat up straight against the tree. Why was there a tree?

Too many questions that needed to be answered, and Ranboo felt barely conscious enough to deal with it.

It didn't take long for their glowing Ender eyes to adjust to the darkness of the night, and they took in their surroundings. It seemed familiar, but of course their memory just had to fail them at that moment.

"Ranboo!" a voice cheered, making Ranboo jump slightly. They knew that voice. Someone safe.

The little ram boy came into view and crouched in front of Ranboo, cocking his head to the side.

"What are you doing out in the snow big man? It's freezing!"

"As much as it may shock you, Tubbo, I don't remember," Ranboo answered truthfully with a light chuckle.

"Damn. Sucks," Tubbo 'sympathised', "I dunno, I just saw you kind of wandering around Snowchester. You didn't do much, but it was weird because it's like the middle of the night. Anyways, I called out to you but you didn't seem to hear me, then you disappeared into the forest. I followed you, and now we're here!"

"Huh." Ranboo flicked their tail in the snow, watching it draw patterns in the white blanket that were quickly covered up again as it fell from the sky. They smiled to themself, drawing different patterns in the snow, watching as the snowfall covered their tracks, then repeating. A quiet snort beside them jolted them back to reality.

"You are so easily entertained, it's adorable," Tubbo remarked with amusement in his tone.

Ranboo blushed and wrapped their tail around himself and looked vaguely over in Tubbo's direction.

"Sorry. My mind's a little cloudy at the moment. I'll go home," Ranboo apologised and stood, stumbling a little, before catching themself on the tree. As they attempted to retreat in the direction of their home, they felt a small hand wrap tightly around their wrist.

"You sure you're good?" Tubbo questioned, "You don't seem very fit for travel if I'm being totally honest."

Ranboo forced out a laugh. "I'll be fine! Everything is fine." But as they tried to walk away again, they stumbled and fell. Tubbo tugged on the arm that he gripped and spun Ranboo around, forcing the half-enderman to fall against himself, knocking them both to the ground.

"Fucking hell, you're heavy!" Tubbo breathed in exclaimation as he shuffled out from underneath the 8 foot weight. Ranboo just hummed in response, barely conscious. Tubbo rolled his eyes fondly and hoisted Ranboo up so they rested comfortably against him before making his way back to the main parts of Snowchester. Ranboo was half-dragged, half-walking alongside him.

Tubbo leaned Ranboo down to sit in a chair beside the fire, and draped over them the blanket that Ranboo himself had knitted and given to Tubbo as a gift. Of all the hobbies the enderboy could've had, Tubbo hadn't ever considered knitting to have been one of them - well, that was before he'd received the gift, of course. Ranboo instantly settled into the seat, tucking their knees up and draping their long tail over the side. Tubbo gently took their crown and placed it on a side table so Ranboo was more comfortable.

Ranboo wasn't sure why they were so tired, but they appreciated the rest. Though they couldn't sleep, they were calm. Much calmer than thry had been in a very long time, and almost completely still, save for the gentle waving of their tail. Tubbo climbed into Ranboo's arms, where the hybrid's tail gently brushed against him every now and again. It was ever so slightly ticklish, and Tubbo couldn't help but notice just how soft the fur was. He was almost certain he could feel a light vibration, and a quiet noise filling the air. It was an odd noise, like a mixture between an enderman's idle warble and a cat's gentle purr.

"Is that you?" Tubbo questioned in a low whisper, so as not to startle Ranboo, "The noise?"

The noise stopped and Ranboo shifted uncomfortably.

"Sorry," they muttered.

"No, I like it. It's cute," Tubbo murmered, the lazy smile evident in his voice. A low chuckle escaped Ranboo's throat. The smaller boy tilted his head back against Ranboo's chest, soon feeling long, clawed fingers intertwine with his and rubbed his thumb gently against the cold, white-gloved hand. Tubbo smiled softly as he listened to the purr growing louder again - most likely unbeknownst to Ranboo - and felt calmed, leaning into his husband's touch.

"Do you feel better now?" Tubbo asked.

"Nah, give me more attention," Ranboo teased and hit Tubbo gently with their tail. The two laughed together.

"You're so weird!" Tubbo giggled.

"I know." Ranboo laughed again. They let go of Tubbo's hand, instead bringing it up to pet his hair. "Seriously though, I'm fine. Just a little tired, pretty out of it."

"You don't say..."

"What's that supposed to mean??" Ranboo questioned with mock offence.

"Nothing, nothing!" Tubbo defended with a laugh, "As long as you clean up the fucking grass blocks you've left all around Snowchester in the morning."

"I like them better where they are..." Ranboo grumbled sleepily, earning another chuckle from Tubbo.

"I know you do, big man, but it makes the place look like a pile of dog shit."

"It does not! But I will clean them up. Probably..."

"I should hope so too!"

"Though it would be a shame if I didn't remember to..." Ranboo smirked.

"You are the worst, Boo."

"I know, but you still love me."

"That I do."
