It had become an almost nightly routine - sometimes more than once per night - for Tubbo to wake up and find a cold, empty space beside him in the bed. It was honestly more of a shock to him if he woke up in the middle of the night and he wasn't completely alone. It saddened him, but he was used to Ranboo just disappearing and reappearing throughout the night. He tended to give it about 30 minutes before heading out to search for his husband. Most of the time Ranboo didn't even leave Snowchester, so they were pretty easy to find and Tubbo was quick to bring them right back to bed. It was routine for the couple now, not that Ranboo ever actually remembered any of it.

So here Tubbo was, 4:35am, waiting the last 5 minutes before he set out to search for his partner. It was the second time that night that Tubbo had awoken to the weight lifting from beside him, the loss of the heat he'd cuddled up against, and the shuffling of giant feet across the floorboards. He was sitting up, still rubbing his tired eyes of sleep, and keeping his gaze on the door hoping for Ranboo's return. Sometimes, they did come back on their own. But not all the time. This was one of those times.

Tubbo checked his communicator for the time, 4:40am. No whispers from Ranboo, and thankfully no death messages either. He sighed and swung his legs over the side of the bed, slipping into his boots and coat that he left at the foot of their bed just for times like this. Gently pushing open the bedroom door, Tubbo listened carefully to see if Ranboo was in the house. They were always very quiet, almost silent, but Tubbo had pretty good hearing and could usually pick up even the slightest of sounds. He couldn't hear anything. Tubbo tiptoed down the stairs so as not to disturb Michael, and quietly exited the mansion.

Snowchester was always freezing cold, being in a snow biome of course, but the nights were so much worse. From the moment Tubbo stepped outside, he was shivering and could barely feel any part of his body that was even slightly exposed. He stuffed his scarred hands in his pockets and began trudging through the snow.

Snowchester wasn't that well lit either, though that was something Tubbo was planning on working on, so it was quite difficult to find someone who blended in so well with both the darkness and the snow. Still, after about 10 minutes of searching, Tubbo spotted the faint purple glow of eyes and Ender particles just behind Jack Manifold's house. The figure, being just over 8 feet, was not quite tall enough to be a regular Enderman and so Tubbo knew he'd found who he was looking for. He approached carefully, so as not to startle Ranboo.

"Hey, Boo," he murmered quietly. Ranboo's ear perked up at the sound and they let out a gentle warble, turning their head towards Tubbo. Tubbo smiled gently.

"You need to come back to bed now," Tubbo told them, "It's cold out here, and I don't want you getting hurt."

Ranboo frowned, then lifted a hand and pointed down by their feet. Tubbo finally reached their side, and followed where their hand pointed down to a tiny arrangement of flowers and stones, surrounded by random lumps of grass. Ranboo warbled happily and their tail waved side to side. Tubbo smiled and gently took Ranboo's hand, lacing their fingers together.

"You made that?"

Ranboo nodded, like a young child proudly showing off a crappy crayon drawing.

"It's very pretty," Tubbo remarked endearingly and squeezed their hand gently, "Good job, honey."

Ranboo vwooped happily and smiled, particles buzzing around them as their tail waved with excitment. They bent down to pick up a pink tulip and tucked it into Tubbo's fluffy hair, behind his ear. Tubbo giggled softly.

"Thank you very much bossman, but it's time to go back home now, okay?" he told them with a sad smile, "You can come back and play with the flowers in the morning, I promise."

Ranboo frowned slightly, but they slowly nodded. Tubbo sighed in relief. Good, this was an easy night. He gently tugged Ranboo's hand and lead them back to the mansion, quietly slipping back inside and up to the bedroom. Ranboo climbed into the bed as Tubbo pulled off his coat and boots. He plucked the flower from his hair and put it in the glass of water on his nightstand before sliding into bed beside his husband. The taller boy warbled gently and pulled Tubbo closer, holding him tucked up against their chest as they purred happily.

"G'night, Boo," Tubbo whispered softly, "I love you."
