BETTY POV:
Today is a big day, the first day of school, I am not as much thrilled as I thought I'd be. I thought me and Archie would be walking down the halls of Riverdale high hand in hand, everyone looking at us as an ultimate power couple. maybe that would happen if I had gotten a chance to say what I wanted last night at the diner.
right now I was in school with veronica giving her the tour. it's been 5 min in school and every guy is drooling over veronica. well why not, she is beautiful and rich."I usually start my tour with a little history, some context. Riverdale High first opened its doors in 1941-" "and hasn't been redecorated since then" she said "yeah" I said. and then suddenly from god knows where Kevin came a startled me "hey!!!" he said "oh!! my, god Kevin don't startle me like this again" I scolded him . "okay mom" he said laughing making me laugh as well, and then I realized that Veronica was standing beside me confused. "oh, Kevin this is veronica, veronica this is Kevin" I introduce them to each other. "hey nice to meet you I love your outfit and I am ga- " "gay, thank god lets be best friends" said veronica sweetly.

we were sitting outside during lunch, veronica was sitting with me and I didn't want to sit with her and I am sure once she meets Cheryl blossom she will sit with her which is good for both me and her. "so, cheerleading one of the biggest extracurricular of Riverdale high, you trying out betty?" she asked "um, no" I sigh " last year I tried out but Cheryl said that I was too fat to get in" I said embarrassed . "which is definitely not true by any means" Kevin said which made me smile. I am glad Archie isn't here I didn't want him to listen to this or make things awkward veronica scoffed appearing to be surprised"you deserve a chance to be in the squad so you are trying out with me" said. I didn't want to say yes but I really wanted to get in the squad "okay" I said. ⚓⚓⚓⚓
veronica taught some steps and I have to say she was really good at it. when it was finally our turn. we did our dance I felt a little lefty because Veronic was very good at it and I was kinda average. after we finished we looked at Cheryl, who just sighed "where is the fire ladies, where is the sizzle" she said unimpressed. "well you haven't seen our big finish yet" Veronica said and I looked confused didn't know what to expect I helplessly put faith in the girl who Archie laid eyes on. and then she leaned and captured my lips. after a few seconds, she pulled away and I stood there frozen, hooked, and super confused. and all Cheryl did rolled her eyes "Check your sell-by date, ladies. Faux-lesbian kissing hasn't been taboo since 1994." she said sternly and glared in my direction. "so betty how's Polly" she asked with the same blossom devilish smirk. "fine" I said quietly hating were this conversation was going. "you have a sister?" asked and I slowly nodded "tell her betty" Cheryl encourages wanting to lit a fire.
"Polly and Cheryl's brother Jason dated and it didn't end well," I say quietly "actually! jason's the reason that bitch landed in a group home, isn't it betty. Take all your and your family's anger out on me, destroy me. isn't it what your family wanted to destroy us for what Jason did to Polly and now he is missing!!! " she said with a devilish laugh. "Cheryl!" I exclaimed "finally" she scoffs. I tried to gather the strength to speak. "I just wanted to say that I am really sorry for what happened to Jason, I cannot even imagine something like this happening to my family," I said feeling really angry but I hid it. my hands were curled in a fist and digging my nails in it.
she clenched her jaw "yeah right" she said quietly. "so veronica welcomes to the squad and betty better luck next year" she said sternly. I sighed and looked up at the ceiling of the gym. and then Veronica spoke and I looked at her. " Wait, what? Why? Because you couldn't bully Betty into being a bitch?" she said and I was a bit shooked. "I need girls with fire in my squad" Cheryl said "...I know what you need, Cheryl because I know who you are. You would rather people fear than like you, so your traffic in terror and intimidation. You're rich, so you've never been held accountable — but I'm living proof. That certainty, that entitlement you wear on your head like a crown? It won't last. Eventually, there will be a reckoning. Or... maybe that reckoning is now. And maybe that reckoning... is me. Betty and I come as a matching set. You want one, you take us both. Did you want to fire? Sorry, Cheryl Bombshell. My specialty's ice." I was taken back by what veronica said and all the jealousy and despise for her just disappeared when she defended me from the biggest bitch ever. Cheryl stood there speechless and frozen and I was smirking and then Cheryl finally spoke "ladies, welcome to the river vixen" that's all she managed to say. and from that particular time, betty's perspective for veronica just changed, who she thought would be a snob or a rich bitch turned out to be a nice girl.
after the practice they both left the gym and hed to the locker room where they changed in their normal clothes and then went towards the ground . "hey veronica, thanks for defending me to Cheryl and that was totally badass no one has ever done that" betty said with a smile plastered on her face. "anything for my friend.... we are friends right ?" she asked me seriously. "yes definitely" I said smiling. and the raven-haired girl grinned. while betty caught sight of a grey crown beanie she didn't saw all summer.....
