No Ordinary Life

After they returned from their honeymoon, the Jacksons were all over magazines and T.V. shows. When the news hit that Michael would be attending Elvis's tribute concert, the media went ballistic. Lisa was annoyed that her face was on all the magazine covers. The headlines were the same "Lisa Marie marries Wacko Jacko" or "Jackson is out for Elvis's Fortune" her least favorite one "The Shame Marriage between the King's Daughter and the King of Weird." Their marriage was hardly fake. They were together all the time. Michael demanded that Lisa be with at all times. It wasn't for the cameras, it was because he felt safe and protected around her. He also felt secured and different when she was near. He wasn't as meek or soft. Lisa brought out a very masculine energy in him. Lisa Marie hated how the news shaped their relationship. Michael was using her to repair a battered reputation and she was only with him for a singing career. Explaining herself to people, especially her family was unnerving. Her mother was so pissed at her. Priscilla would make it a point to dig into Michael as much as she could. On one of their many contentious phone conversations, Priscilla didn't hold back.

"You don't think his timing is a little suspicious? He was accused of molesting a boy, sweetie! Then he marries you? Not to mention, your own kids. Are they safe? I mean look at him. You left a perfectly normal marriage to run off with a freak. He's a got damn freak and you know it! You're doing this to get back at me. You're just hurting yourself and your family."

"Oh my god mother! Do you think I would put my children in danger? Do you? Seriously now! We aren't new mom. I've been seeing him since 92. Before all the bullshit lies happened. I know him, mother. He's nothing like the media says he is. Nothing. He isn't a freak or anything like the news says he is. He's normal, mom. Believe it or not."

"And what about your inheritance? Your father's catalogue? You know he stole the Beatles from Paul, right? And I know he needs money. I heard he paid that family fifty million dollars or something. He's broke!"

" My inheritance? He probably has more money than I do. He didn't pay anything. His insurance company did and it wasn't for that  much. Why is it so hard to believe that we love each other? We do. Why? Forget about all that you think you know about him. Mother, he is the most nicest, loving, funny, incredible person I have ever met. The kids love him. Riley follows him around and Ben. Ben loves it when he dances. He really is a good man. He's even reading some of the church's books. He is protective of me and he spoils me. He loves me."

"You're so stupid! It's a publicity stunt. And when he burst this pipe dream you have of him, just know that I warned you."

"I'm not stupid. It isn't a publicity stunt. It ain't a dream. This is very real. Very real."

"Is he coming to Memphis with you?"

"Of course he is. Why wouldn't he?"

"Big fuckin mistake. Bye!"

Lisa and her mother argued and argued. She even argued with her half brother and everyone associated with the Presley name. Michael, on the other hand was receiving gifts and congratulatory phone calls. Everyone from Stevie Wonder to Princess Diana called him to congratulate him. Michael had sent out chocolate bars to everyone he considered important enough to receive one. The chocolate bars had their names on it and a music note. He sent a bunch to his Los Angeles office and to Lisa's Memphis office. All employees would get one. Michael sent some to his family and friends. He was very happy. Michael's team even noticed a difference in him. He smiled more and was happy. There weren't a lot of hanger ons and other random people around him. His bodyguards like that. Lisa kept all the bad people away from Michael. He seemed more relaxed and at peace. The couple would spend days at Neverland, but mostly they resided at Lisa's house in Hidden Hills. Michael would spend most of his time in the library and his newly constructed dance studio. The kids would sit with him in the library while he listened to music or read one of Lisa Scientology books. He enjoyed reading them, he thought it was great fictional writing. He would never convert to Scientology, but he wanted to know what his wife was into.
