"Alan wake up now!" I groaned opening my eyes to my unhappy mother.
"What's wrong?" I said and rubbed my eyes.
"Give me your phone." she said sternly. My phone. I'm so fucked if she sees the messages with me and Oliver.
"Uh okay. Why?" I needed a reason why. I feel really nervous right now.
"Because I said so. Give me it now Alan." She held out her hand and I handed her my phone. "What's your password." She looked up at me.
"0522. My birthday." I saw her type my password quickly and saw a few taps and she became more angry. I'm so fucked.
"So there is someone named Oliver. Austin was right." Austin. AUSTIN. He fucking told?
"What do you mean Austin was right?" I felt my whole body grow hot.
"He told us that you've been sneaking out seeing this Oliver guy. You have no idea how much trouble your in." I prayed and hoped that Oliver wouldn't message me right now. Just please, one time where he doesn't message me in the morning.
I'm not even sure whose more mad right now. Me because Austin opened his mouth about me and Oliver which is completely none of his business, or my mother who had found out I've been going out with a guy who is 19. That's if she knows his age.
"Mom please I can--"
"First of all, you're datig a boy! A fucking boy Alan! I didn't raise you to be like this! Second of all, you're sneaking out behind our backs! Why can't you be more like Austin? At least he knows better and was raised correctly." She yelled at me. I saw Austin turn his head from the kitchen and look towards me. I felt tears in my eyes. Be more like Austin. If they only knew how gay he really is and the things we've done. How could my own mother say these things to me.
"What's wrong with me?" I choaked out a sob. "Why am I such a disgrace to you?" I saw my mom's facial expression soften as if she felt bad, but then it went back to pissed off.
"You're a fucking disgrace because you lie to your parents! Alan, you think lying to us will do any good? You think that by you sneaking around you won't get caught? That's not how this works Alan." I processed every word she said and I realized she said nothing about me being gay.
"You're not mad about me being gay?" I looked up at my mother.
"No, I'm not Alan. You love who you want to love. Telling your Father this won't be easy." Her voice softened.
"Can we wait to tell him? I don't want anymore fighting over this vacation." I said and she nodded.
"I won't tell your father any thing. Can I at least meet this boy?" She wants to meet Oliver? Me being 15 and him 19 won't make her happy.
"There's something you need to know about him." I said nervously.
"And that is?" she raised an eyebrow.
"He's.. he's 19." I looked down to my hands.
"Then I'm definitely meeting him. I don't mind this age difference, but Alan honey you have to be careful." She sat next to me on my bed.
"I know mom. He's a really nice guy though. You'll love him." I half smiled.
"Okay honey." My mom gave me my phone back and I sighed from relief. I know telling my dad this won't be easy but, it'll happen eventually.
"Thanks Mom." she hummed in a reply and left the room. I immediately texted Oliver. Thankfully he agreed to meet her.
Hours later...
I felt nervous of how my mother would see Oliver. You see, Oliver isn't the kind of guy my mother would want me to date. But hey, I should be the one choosing the love of my life, even if my mother disagrees with him. My mother made sure everyone was out of the house besides her and I. So all we had to do was wait for Oliver.
As time went by, I finally heard a knock on the door. Finally he was here. If he showed up any later my mother would've gotten mad.
I opened the door with a smile and let him in. "Okay so just... just play it cool okay? I mean my mom can be really hard to impress sometimes and since she found out about you know.. us.. She's been having high expectations." I explained quietly to him.
"Don't worry love. I'll do my best to make her love me." Oliver smiled and made his way over to the kitchen to meet my mom.
He politely said hello, he introduced himself, and he made sure he didn't say anythint to upset her. I'd have to say, Oliver was really good at winning people over.
After about an hour or two, Oliver said his goodbyes and my mother couldn't keep a smile off her face. He definitely won her over. I was relieved about this.
"He seems like a nice young man." my mother smiled. "I like him."
