Blue on Blue - pietro maximoff

chapter four

They all look at the voice. Seeing a beaten up and partially broken bot of Tony's.

"Stark," Steve mumbles.

Tony takes a step forward, "JARVIS."

"I'm sorry, I was asleep.," says the bot, "Or...I was a- dream?"

Tony tapped a device on his wrist, "Reboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit."

"There was a terrible noise...and I was tangled in... in...strings," The bot continues to talk, "I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy."

"You killed someone?" questions Steve.

"Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world we're faced with ugly choices."

Thor takes a few steps forward, "Who sent you?"

The bot plays a recording of Tony saying "I see a suit of armor around the world".

It clicks in Bruce's head, "Ultron!"

"What the fuck is Ultron?" asks Kai.

"In the flesh." The bot ignores her, "Or, no, not yet. Not this...chrysalis. But I'm ready. I'm on a mission."

Natasha asks, "What mission?"

Maria cocks her gun silently, ready to engage, Thor tightens his grip on Mijolnir.

"Peace in our time."

Suddenly the Iron Legion bots smash through the walls and attack the team. Kai creates an ice wall to stop them from crashing into all of them, the ice shatters but it stopped the Legion from hitting them at first. Bruce and Natasha hide behind the bar together, Bruce landing roughly on top of her.

"Sorry!" he yells over all the chaos.

"Don't turn green!"

"I won't!"

They all fight the Iron Legions. Helen hiding since she doesn't fight, Maria and Kai cover her.

Kai turns to Maria, "I'll be right back!"

Kai runs blasting most of the Legion with an ice blast. Any that come close to her she'd touch them and they'd turn to hard ice.

"Stark!" Rogers yells for him. But Stark is on top of one trying to shut it down. It keeps repeating 'We are here to help.'

"One sec, one sec!" He continues to try and shut it down, "No more." Stark grunts, "That's the one." It shuts down.

"Cap!"

Steve turns around and sees Clint throwing his shield to him. He catches it and uses it to destroy the last Iron Legion.

"That was dramatic! I'm sorry," says Ultron, "I know you mean well. You just didn't think it through. You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to... evolve?"

He picks up a now destroyed Iron Legion body, it was clear Kai had gotten that one because the ice covered it, "With these? These puppets? There's only one path to peace: The Avengers' extinction."

Thor doesn't give Ultron the chance to escape or continue his speech. He throws his hammer directly at him and he shatters into pieces. Although destroyed, he starts to sing, "I had strings, but now I'm free. There are no strings on me, no strings on me."

Everyone was in the lab, some tending to their minor wounds while the others  check over everything.

"All our work is gone," says Bruce, "Ultron cleared out, used the internet as an escape hatch."

Steve mumbles shaking his head, "Ultron."
