Lillie and I strolled around Ula'ula, hand in hand. Snow fell from the sky, floating down slowly like hundreds of tiny feathers. Our shoes left footprints in the white powder below us.
Eventually, we stopped to rest next to a Pokémon center. Lillie huddled up to me.
I laughed, my breath creating a cloud of fog in front of me. "You cold?"
Despite the freezing temperatures, some red crept into Lillie's cheeks. "Yes, is that a problem?"
I shook my head. "Not at all."
She looked up at me. "Then deal with it. You're warm."
I smirked. "Sassy, are we?"
Lillie gazed up, staring at something.
"What is it?" I was about to follow her eyes when she leaned in and pressed her lips to mine, bringing her hands up to the sides of my head. I accepted the kiss without question, wrapping my arms around her waist.
After a blissful 10 seconds, we seperated, her eyes still gazing into mine. She giggled.
I tilted my head. "That was... spontaneous. Not that I'm complaining or anything."
Lillie pointed up. Following her point, I saw a small bunch of white berried mistletoe hanging right above us.
I chuckled. "Ok, that makes sense." I looked back down to Lillie, who had a cute smile on her face, her cheeks still dusted pink.
"Do you remember the first time we kissed?" I asked.
Red crept back to Lillie's cheeks. "How could I forget that?"
**3 years earlier**
Lillie, Hau, Gladion, and I were hanging out around Aether Paradise. The Aether Sanctuary had just finished reconstruction after the ultra space incident. Lusamine was in a hospital, the doctors trying their best to cure her of Nihilego toxins. Gladion had offered to give Hau and I a full tour, and Lillie tagged along because she wanted to. After the tour, we were just walking around talking about random things. Currently, the conversation was on strong Pokémon, for some reason.
"I think my strongest Pokémon is my Primarina. After all, I have had her the longest," Hau said.
Gladion, rolling his eyes, said, "If you must know, Silvally is easily he strongest Pokémon I have."
I snickered. "I think I win, considering my strongest Pokémon is a legendary."
Hau tucked his hands behind his head, a grin on his face. "It wasn't a competition, y'know."
I shrugged. "I still win."
"Well, unless you win malasadas, I don't care who wins."
I snickered. Lillie giggled. I looked over at her. She had been pretty quiet as the rest of us talked. I decided to bring her in to the conversation. "Hey, Lillie, what's your favorite pastime?"
Lillie blinked. "Well, I do like playing with the Pokémon at Kukui's lab. They're all so friendly." She smiled shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear with a gloved hand, her white coat blowing in the wind, as it was a tad big for her.
Hau shivered, pulling on his black hood. "Hey, could we go inside? It's freezing out here."
We all agreed.
Hau went ahead, as he was desperate to get to warmth. Gladion, Lillie, and I all walked next to each other.
Then I tripped. I didn't even see what I tripped on. Needless to say, I face planted.
Lillie halted in her tracks and knelt down. "Are you ok Sun?"
Gladion, however, didn't even pay attention, and walked in the door.
I pushed myself up and dusted myself off. "Yeah, I'm fine." I got to my feet and we continued through the door to find Hau glancing above us, before looking down with a smirk on his face.
"What's with the look?" I asked.
"Look up," he replied simply.
I did, and found a bunch of mistletoe hanging above us.
I looked back at Hau with a blank expression before facepalming.
Lillie cocked her head. "I don't see what the big deal is. It's just mistletoe.
Hau wore an evil grin. "It's tradition. When two people stand under the mistletoe, they have to kiss."
Lillie looked back to me, and her face exploded in red.
I looked back to Hau. "You do realize her brother is right there, right?" I said, pointing to Gladion.
Gladion cocked an eyebrow. "I don't care. It's just mistletoe. It's not like it means anything."
I sighed, looking back to Lillie, chewing my lip.
I shrugged, leaned in, and gave her a peck, before looking away, heat creeping into my face. Lillie was completely red, and reached up to cover her face with her hat.
I walked back over to Hau. "Ok, let's continue what we were doing and pretend like that didn't happen."
Hau smirked at me in return
**Present Day**
"And now, three years later, and we repeated it... somewhat."
Lillie giggled and gave me a peck. "You don't have to use mistletoe as an excuse to kiss me, you know."
I tilted my head, a smug smile on my face. "Need I remind you that you kissed me?"
Lillie lay her head on my chess. "Shut up."
I chuckled, kissing her forehead. "I love you."
A muffled voice answered, "I love you too."
