CHAPTER 1 : THE INTERVIEW WITH THE BOSS

-CARTER POV-

I walk out of my office and walk to my secretary; Donna. "Donna, did you receive any applications for a new personal assistant? I won't let you do all the work that Amy failed to do." She takes out a file and hands it to me "Just one so far, sir." I take the file and open it. Natalie Harper; twenty-three years old. Graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a PHD in accounting and a MBA degree in business. She graduated a month ago. She finished all her articles for accounting in two years while studying. Her résumé is very organized and detailed. I go through it and see a picture of her.

Donna says as she noticed my surprise. "I did the liberty of doing a background check on her. Everything is in the file." I nod to her and go back to my office. I walk to my desk and put the file down. I sit down by my desk and go through my paperwork. My mind keeps wondering back to Natalie Harper. I give in and push my paperwork aside and pull her file closer. I open it up and stare at her picture. She is flawless. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

I put her picture aside and look through her background check. She was born in Hertfordshire; she is an Aries; she was born on 16 April 1998. Her parents died when she was six years old; they were murdered on her birthday and she witnessed the whole thing. After that; she moved to Austin to live with her Aunt and Uncle. She grew up there and even graduated there. She has always been the top of her class. She has never been in detention or been expelled and she has never been arrested.

I put her file down on my desk and think about it. I go through it again. She did a firearm course for two years and graduated. She got an NRA certificate in firearms. She is very talented, intelligent and very motivated. I want her in my business and not just in the company. I want her permanently. I pick up my telephone and call Donna. She picks up and says "How can I help you, Sir?" I say to her "Donna, please make an appointment with Miss Harper to come in for an interview tomorrow at 09:30; and clear my schedule for that time, I will interview her myself." She says back to me "Yes, Sir; I will get right on that." I hang up and look at her picture again. I can't wait to meet her.

I continue with my paperwork for a while. After a while; I pull her file closer again. There is just something about her; that I can't put my finger on. Her background seems a little too clean. I need to do a deeper background check on her and on her family. I need to know exactly who she is and what happened in her past until now.

I look it over again; to make sure I didn't miss anything. Why do I care about this so much? I haven't even met her yet. I pack up my work and stand up. I walk to my door and walk out. I greet Donna and walk to the elevator. I enter the elevator and press the first floor button and the doors closes. I go down to the first floor and exit the elevator. I walk to the front door and walk out.

I walk to my car and unlock it. I get in and put the key in the ignition. I start the engine and drive off. I drive back to my mansion and drive through the gates and park in front of the front door. I take the keys out of the ignition and get out of my car. I walk to the front door and open it. I go inside and close the door.

I walk to the living room and see the twins, Jennie and Dave, sitting in the living room; talking. They are my IT specialists and my hackers. I walk up to them with Natalie's file in my hand. "Dave, Jennie; this file that I hold in my hand is very important. This is a very important priority. I need you to do a very deep background check on her and her family. I want to know everything about her and her family. I want no stone unturned." I hand Dave the file and they say "We'll get right on it." They stand up and walk off. I go up to my home office and continue with my paperwork.
