Your final exams rolled around in the blink of an eye but, unlike a lot of your classmates, you weren't too worried about them. The way you had kept on top of your schoolwork, you really only had to revise your materials, not even study.
Instead, you focussed more on figuring out what you wanted to do on your upcoming vacation to Taiwan. You looked up all the popular tourist spots and tried to find less known places to visit as well.
Your parents were of the type to visit museums, ruins and other historical things but they let you pick a lot of the activities as well. For all their lack of presence and not acting like a family during the rest of the year, on vacation, they made sure that you all felt like a normal family.
The fact that they didn't hold back with spending on souvenirs was also a big bonus.
In short, your vacations were the best time of the entire year for you.
It didn't take long for you to amass a list that could fill every day of your two-week vacation from morning to evening. You would have to reduce it by about half, of course, since your parents also made plans.
You breezed through your exams and were confident that you had done very well on all of them. Then came the two weeks left until summer vacation started and both students and teachers were progressively getting more and more distracted by the upcoming break.
One day you had asked Tendou about his plans for the summer but he had simply replied that he didn't have any apart from a training camp with the volleyball club.
His exams had also gone well and he had complained that he would have definitely done just as well even if he had studied less. You felt for him of course, but you also envied him a little to have parents that were so involved in one aspect of his life at least.
It wasn't something you shared with him of course and you knew well enough that you didn't feel like you wanted to trade. At least your parents were interested in aspects of your life apart from your studies as well. They were just rarely around to hear about them.
On the last day before vacation started, there weren't a lot of real lessons. All students were constantly talking about their plans for summer and the teachers knew better than to try to get some serious work done.
When the final bell of the day rang, you jumped up from your chair and were ready to rush out of the classroom. Tendou stopped you before you could get far, however.
"Did you need something?" You asked him, not sure what was going on.
"When are you back from your trip?" He asked you straight to the point.
You thought for a moment trying to figure out the exact date, but you were too excited to go home to think for long. "About two weeks from now. Do you need the date?"
"No, no that's fine, I was just wondering if you wanted to meet up once you got back." He said, scratching the back of his neck.
"Of course!" You said, a smile forming on your face, happy that he was the one asking you to hang out for a change.
"Okay, let me know when you get back then." He said and took off towards the exit. You quickly followed behind him and, all the way to the dorms, the both of you chatted about things you could do during summer.
Akari startled when you rushed into the room to get your stuff. You had made sure to pack yesterday so that you would be ready to go as soon as possible.
Within five minutes you had gathered everything, wished Akari a good vacation, and were back out the door.
The wait for your parents wasn't long and you chatted with them happily on your way home.
